I took a picture of a girl I once knew
I kept it here in case I'd run into you
The look on your face could light up a room
But instead you left

And now I'm sitting with my head on the dashboard
Push the seat back and close my eyes
I had this dream that I was on an airplane
Afraid to fly

So I tipped my head to the side and I whispered
To this man that was in the aisle
I said "Do you know how long it takes before we die?"
And then I rolled awake

Take me back to the person I used to be
When you were there for me
I know it seems like forever
But do me this favor please
Way back when we were stupid
Held grudges just to help us sleep
Oh my God, how ridiculous were we?

I stop your breathin’ every time I'm around, girl
Your body's sweatin’ and your hands start to shake
I know you can't control your eyes
But I know that your looks, they are fake

So tease me once and I swear I’ll forget
How it feels when you’ve got nothing left
We’ll take it slow and only work at it sometimes
Oh yeah

Take me back to the person I used to be
When you were there for me
I know it seems like forever
But do me this favor please
Way back when we were stupid
Held grudges just to help us sleep
Oh my God, how ridiculous were we?

Woah, woah

I took a picture of a girl I once knew
I kept it here in case I'd run into you
The look on your face could light up a room
But instead you left
And oh you left

Take me back to the person I used to be
When you were there for me
I know it seems like forever
But do me this favor please
Way back when we were stupid
Held grudges just to help us sleep
Oh my God, how ridiculous were we?

Woah, woah

    Song Meaning

To me, this song is exactly where I'm at.

It's two people, who have moved on and aren't really in each other's lives anymore. They've always had a complicated relationship, definitenly not just friends, but never really went full force with it (we'll take it slow and only work at it sometimes).

& He misses her. He can tell just by how she is around him that she still has feelings for him too (third verse), and they'd both do anything just to get the feeling of comfort they had with each other because without it they "have nothing left."

The little fights are obvious, they're dumb and you only act all stubborn to feel like you have a backbone, when you both know the other person is wayy more important than the stupid little fight. Still, once it's gone.. you'd kill to get back to even that.

I think the fear of flying is being scared to move on.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
