A little girl sits in her new dress
Alone on the cold concrete front steps
And cries to herself, wondering when
Or if, she'll ever see her father again

Why don't we try harder than last time
To dry our eyes and smile

Someday, oh I'll make time
Yeah maybe, but not tonight
I'm trying as hard as I
Can to believe you
Don't lie

A killer without a conscience cries
Alone in his cold bedroom at night
Perpetually asking why, oh why
Am I so lonely, while he sharpens his knives

Why don't we try harder than last time
To dry our eyes and smile

Someday, oh I'll make time
Yeah maybe, but not tonight
I'm trying as hard as I
Can to believe you
Don't lie

You don't get it
This is it, your last chance to dance
You don't get it, no

A father who left his daugher's side
And slowly exhales for the last time

Someday, oh I'll make time
Yeah maybe, but not tonight
I'm trying as hard as I
Can to believe you
Don't lie

Someday, oh I'll make time
Yeah maybe, but not tonight
I'm trying as hard as I
Can to believe you
I don't believe you
I want to believe you
Don't lie

Dry your eyes and smile

I think it might be about how you choose how you live in life. like sometimes bad things happen and how you deal with them determines who you are and you only get one chance. like the killer thinks he doesnt have a conscience yet hes crying, and the dying father sighs. they wish they had made different choices. the girl on the front steps is the effect of someone making a bad choice (her father). also in the original recording of the song theres an extra part to the first verse that goes: "A tired man lays wondering why his family sits scattered outside. and as they all smile and converse this man, softly slips away from this world" they just wish they had more time to make things right. "someday, ohh ill make time" they're saying someday they'll have all the time they need, but tonight they just dont have enough. at least thats what i think anyway

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
