In my Life I never asked
for anybody's assistence
I'd rather go about my own affairs
than to deal with other persons problems
Dissatisfied existence
What's the meaning of my life?
Dissatisfied existence
Is it worth to be alive
If I ever want to attract attention
it won't be for your affection
I don't know what I really want in my Life
and I don't remember whom I once believed
Dissatisfied existence
What's the meaning of my life?
Dissatisfied existence
Is it worth to be alive
What do you really want in life?
What's the meaning of my life?
Is it worth to be alive?
Where's the answer for my searchin??
Dissatisfied existence
What's the meaning of my life?
Dissatisfied existence
Is it worth to be alive
I live my boring life
and no one takes notice of me
Happiness is not what I feel
Is there any sense for my searchin??

Despite having predated this phenomenon, I think this song is about toxic self-love. Or more specifically how empty your life can end up being when that's all you depend on. A lot of people these days I've noticed spew a lot of pessimistic nonsense about how they don't need anyone or how they just hate people in general and would rather keep to themselves. Each verses lyrics actually progress like it's from the point of view from someone who ends up feeling miserable after falling for this deception.

"In my Life I never asked for anybody's assistance I'd rather go about my own affairs than to deal with other persons problems"

Verse 1 could possibly be representing the point of view of someone who went through some sort of trauma or hardship in the social or even romantic realm of life so they decide to just give up on all of that and live a life for themselves to avoid the stress that comes with betrayal, abandonment, or heartbreak.

"If I ever want to attract attention it won't be for your affection I don't know what I really want in my Life and I don't remember whom I once believed"

Verse 2 in my opinion showcases the "I don't give a shit" attitude that comes with toxic self-love. And in the process the only attention you end up attracting is very superficial attention that's only validation for your ego and no positive attention like real human intimacy. Yet in the end, you always end not knowing what you TRULY want in life due to the possibly fulfilling motives you've filtered out.

"I live my boring life and no one takes notice of me Happiness is not what I feel Is there any sense for my searching??"

And last but not least verse 3 finally reveals how the person going through all of this really feels; empty, lonely, unfulfilled, etc.

Destruction out of the big Teutonic 3 I think is definitely the most lyrically interesting. They can go from having songs with typical thrash metal badassery to songs like this with more philosophical subject matter that really says a lot about the human experience in everyday life.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
