I wake up, with blood-shot eyes
Struggled to memorize
The way it felt between your thighs
Pleasure that made you cry
Feels so good to be bad
Not worth the aftermath, after that
After that
Try to get you back

I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you

Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to try
Yeah, so this is goodbye

God damn, my spinning head
Decisions that made my bed
Now I must lay in it
And deal with things I left unsaid
I want to dive into you
Forget what you're going through
I get behind, make your move
Forget about the truth

I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you

Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference
It even makes a difference to try (yeah)
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
(Oh no)
So this is goodbye

I've been here before
One day I'll wake up
And it won't hurt anymore
You caught me in a lie
I have no alibi
The words you say don't have a meaning
'Cause

I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you and I
And so this is goodbye

Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference
It even makes a difference to try
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
(Oh no)
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye, yeah
So this is goodbye, yeah
So this is goodbye, yeah

In an interview with The Australian, lead singer Adam Levine explained that he wrote this about his frustration at the state of politics and the US role in the war in Iraq. Levine began writing the track a few years earlier about a failed relationship, which is a common theme in Levine's writing. But revisiting the song for this It Won't Be Soon Before Long, he recognized a whole new dimension to the track and made the song more political. Said Levine: "There is so much going on in America at the moment. I hope we (the US) can dig ourselves out of this hole. There's a bunch of confusion going on in the world.''

This song rose from #64 to #1 on the US chart in 1 week (May 12, 2007), breaking the record for the biggest leap to #1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the 52-1 leap of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" in October 2002. The record was broken by T.I.'s "Whatever You Like," when on the Billboard magazine issue dated September 6, 2008 it jumped from #71 to #1. (thanks, Edward Pearce - Ashford, Kent, England, for above 2)

It Won't Be Soon Before Long was the most downloaded album on iTunes in 2007. Amy Winehouse's Back To Black was second and Kanye West's Graduation third. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France)

This won the Grammy in 2008 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
