I remember our first kiss, the butterflies
I know you felt them too
I can still taste your lips
That night I wrapped up all my love in you
But deep inside, I always knew
The sadness around you was deadly
I must hate myself
'Cause I also knew one day you'd destroy me

But there's something I've gotta know
Before we say goodbye
Will I ever see you again
Somewhere in another life?

I remember our first fight
Your skeletons were all up over you
I can still taste that night
When you told me you'd been
Beat up and abused

You'd hide it all
Bruised mouths don't talk
(It's not your fault, it was never your fault)
It's an evil world
For an innocent girl
(It's not your fault, it was never your fault)

But there's something I've gotta know
Before we say goodbye
Will I see you again
Somewhere in another life?

I'm gonna try to be okay
But I need you to know
Wherever you are now
That here you were adored
You were always great at running away
But you said forever, you promised forever

I forgive you, yeah I've forgiven you
But now I just miss you
I always remember you

Sleep in peace.

this songs is so perfect. it epitomizes teenage love in that we always know it is going to end bad, but we throw ourselves into it anyways. And we always hope that things can still work out in some far distant future

One Comment?! I cant believe it... Yeah I agree (God thats all i seem to be doing) 1st love = 1st breakup = heartache. You move on, but that 1st one is always special and is always the one you'll remember.

I think it's about this guy who fell in love with this girl who was all messed up and had a really bad past. And he knew she'd pull him into her black hole, but he fell for her anyway. And she probably killed herself, or ran away. And with that, she did, in fact, pull him into her black hole. And he's just as depressed as she was, if not worse, thinking, "Why did she leave me like this. Didn't she love me?" But he forgave her, knowing the pain she was in. And he just misses her, and hopes to see her again, somewhere, somehow.

I have a very personal feeling with this song. It reminds me exactly of this one girl who I loved completely... She told me some tragic things from her past that she'd never told anyone before, she was "beat up and abused" in a way... We fell in love...I remember our first and only real kiss, everything we shared...But she moved away, left me and I always wonder if we'll meet each other again someday...the only difference between our story and this song is that she was never sad, at least never on the outside, and she always brought me up from the down; she was an amazing person, my guardian angel...

hmmm... clearly, addressed to adalia. I'm thinking, perhaps this is from her boyfriend. This is after shes disapeared for the second time-shes gone, but this is different from the first time because this time is for "forever"He talks about their first kiss etc, because this was the intimacy he reached with her-yet after that point, she would cut off from him-this is the sadness he refers to-she wouldnt let him get any deeper, wouldnt confide etc.(this fact is mentioned in the auspice). But then he found out that she was beaten and abused, and assures her it wasnt her fault. "here you were adored"-by EVERYONE in the town that is.

    Song Meaning

I love this song. Has to be one of my fave's of off this album xD

“I remember our first kiss, the butterflies I know you felt them too I can still taste your lips That night I wrapped up all my love in you But deep inside, I always knew The sadness around you was deadly I must hate myself 'Cause I also knew one day you'd destroy me”

This part I think tells us that he knew she had a dark soul (and maybe suffered from depression), but he still feel in love with her even though he “knew one day you'd destroy me”; maybe he even knew she would end up trying to kill herself but he ignored it because she meant so much to him.

“But there's something I've gotta know Before we say goodbye Will I ever see you again Somewhere in another life?”

I’m thinking maybe the last conversation he had with her. Maybe she dropped hints that she wouldn’t see him again. He knew that if he stopped her then it would only cause her more pain so instead asks the un-answerable question weather they’d meet again “In another life”

“I remember our first fight Your skeletons were all up over you I can still taste that night When you told me you'd been Beat up and abused”

He thinks back to their first fight. Maybe he tried to get to know her better and she had pushed him away causing the fight. She then told him that she’d been abused. (Maybe as a child?)

“You'd hide it all Bruised mouths don't talk (It's not your fault, it was never your fault) It's an evil world For an innocent girl (It's not your fault, it was never your fault)”

She told him that he was the only one she had told; since she hides it from other people. “You hide it all, Bruised mouths don’t talk”. She blames herself for being so weak to let that person hurt her, but he soothes that is isn’t her fault she was innocent in all of it. “It’s an evil world, for an innocent girl”

“I'm gonna try to be okay But I need you to know Wherever you are now That here you were adored You were always great at running away But you said forever, you promised forever” Now it’s after she has killed herself and he is coming to terms with her death. The first part of grief then hits, telling the person even if they can’t hear you, that you still love them. Then the second stage hits, anger. He is angry that she broke their promise of them being together forever. “I forgive you, yeah I've forgiven you But now I just miss you I always remember you”

Finally the last stage of grief; he forgives her for taking her own life and leaving him alone. And the anger he once had directed at her is now replaced by the longing for her to be with him again. He also lets her know that even though she took her own life, she’ll still be a part of his... in his memories.

    “Sleep in peace”

Kind of speaks for itself really...

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
