Ten years, two-thousand stomach aches;
If I get one every other day,
Are we to have another century of guitar when the best instrument in the world is still the piano?

    I love this song. The final line, with the pause leading into the heavy cello sound is amazing. I don't know if Piano is the best instrument (I'm still partial to guitar), but it works so well for this song. The only time where Piano has really blown me away is Mike Garson's contributions to Aladdin Sane.

    I think it's ironic that Kaki is a guitar god when this song is like 'the best instrument is the piano'.

    well,.. I think this is just a metaphor about all the things WE do or WE are but maybe is not "the right one" for any reason and it hurts. the question is that one; are we to have another century of guitar when the best instrument in the world is still piano?

    so for example...are we going to be like this when everybody is diferent? are we going to do the same when everybody does the opposite? you could find diferent interpretations linked, actually i can find many more.

    i don´t think she is talking about people´s instrument preferences cause it hasn´t sense. I like both instruments, it depends on who is playing them...;)

    Sorry, i can´t explain myself better than this.

    The thing about piano is that if you learn to play, you generally learn a lot about music and theory and things that someone just picking up a guitar wouldn't learn right away. Notes are arranged in a much simpler way on the piano so I find certain things can be done easier on the piano and then transferred to a guitar perhaps. Pianos are very versatile, and a very useful instrument for a musician, this might be what she is talking about by saying it's the best instrument. I think that this song is just meant to be very ironic though, because no matter how great, influential and useful pianos can be...there is no piano in the song.

    I llike musicaliada's interpretation, don't know if I agree with it...

    The song makes me think of the validity of that final statement. By itself, yes, piano is the most versatile instrument; you've got 7 octaves on a keyboard. But in the context of others playing in several instruments, even if it only has ~40 notes, I think guitar the superior instrument. The advent of pedals gave so many different sounds and moods that I still don't think have been by touched by keyboard.

    In the end though, Johnny death is right; it all depends on the players devtion and imagination....

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
