Like a dream I had
In subconscious deep
Here you come again
Only in my sleep
And I remember you
I remember you
Like a memory
of a Time gone by
Many things I've seen
Still I can't deny
That I remember you
Yes I remember the things you do to me

When you say my name
When you hold my hand
When you whisper in my ear the things
That only you could understand
When you say my name
When you hold my hand
When you touch me softly in the way
That only you can do
I remember you
I remember you

Every other touch
Runs as cold as ice
If I get too close
I may pay the price
But I remember you
Yes I remember the things you do to me

I would recognize your shadow in a crowded room
Change your name a million times
It wouldn't change my mind
Or what I hope to find
In your heart underneath
In a new rhythm I breathe
'Cause I remember you
I remember you
I remember you
I remember you
Yes I do

I remember you
And I want you to say my name
I remember you
And I want you to say my name
Say my name
Say my name
Say my name...I remember

Here's what Emilie says about this lovely song: Remember" is one of my favorite songs on the album. What's funny is, I didn't write it for me, I wrote it for Annie Lennox, not that she would ever care to sing it or that I ever gave it to her, but I wrote the song years ago before I began singing, and I envisioned Annie singing the song as I wrote it, which is how the vocal lines were guided in the particular way they were. It seems odd to say now, but it's true. As to the record crackles at the beginning and the end, the idea is this: Someone puts on an old record and is instantly transported back in time to, say, the 30s. A ghostly woman in a long satin gown is walking the streets at midnight drawn towards the presence of the invisible time traveler. He is her lover from a past existence, and she taunts him with her remembrance. In the end, he is called away from the ghost back to our modern world to the sound of the record player.

The synthesizer at the end is one of the most romantic sounds I have ever heard. I can't explain why.

I agree pretty much with RachelRicochet...

But to me, the song has a different point of view... I'm pretty sure this is not the meaning of the song, but this is how I relate to it: It's reminds me of a friend I have know for years. We have had an awesome and really complicated friendship over the years, but the most specific part must be the fact, that we have only met each other three times. And though that, he was one of my best and oldest friends (that for some reason never wanted to meet me, in real life). "I remember you" - tells how I miss him as a real person, and though we write every day, it feels like he's just a memory. A part of the past.

"Yes I remember the things you do to me" - he did some funny thins to my mind, you might can guess later..

"When you say my name When you hold my hand When you touch me softly in the way That only you can do" - the last time I ever saw him, isn't that long ago. He was SO kind, and he actually really wanted to see me and it was just... So... And I loved how he said my name, and how he caressed me. .. And I loved the moment where he did hold my hand.

"Every other touch runs as cold as ice If I get too close I may pay the price" - reminds me of hes ridiculous girlfriend, he loves more than anything in the world...

    Song Meaning

One way I see this song is that a woman is in love with a man but he doesn't love her the same or anymore, but no matter what she does she remembers him and the things he would do to her "When you say my name when you hold my hand, when you whisper in my ear the things that only you could understand."

Another way I see it is that the man the woman is with has changed over time maybe. Like the way he treats her or something like that. But every time he touches her she remembers the way he use to be and she wants the old him back. "Every other touch runs as cold as ice if I get too close I may pay the price" might mean that he has started abusing her. She knows his good side is still there she just doesn't know how to bring it out of him again, "I would recognize your shadow in a crowded room, change your name a million times, it wouldn't change my mind or what I hope to find in your heart underneath" But she really wants things to be how they were before "And I want you to say my name" meaning say it how you use to.

I absolutely love this song and Emilie Autumn is a goddess! <3

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
