Underneath the sky, we sleep
The sunlight in my eyes keeps me from seeing clearly
And deep beneath the stars, I'm lost
The darkness in my heart keeps me from letting go
Of everything I fear the most
And now I'm begging you, don't let go

And I'm alone and I'm ashamed
Hold me in your arms
And now I'm sorry for what I've done

Tied around the mess I've made
The air I breathe, much harder, every time I speak
The words you've heard a thousand times
I've tried before but now I feel like letting go
Of everything that hurts the most
And now I'm begging you, don't let go

And I'm alone and I'm ashamed
Hold me in your arms
And now I'm sorry for what I've done

And after all is said and done
You pick me up no matter where I fall
You hold me in your arms
Forgive me when I'm wrong

And I'm alone and I'm ashamed
Hold me in your arms
And now I'm sorry for what I've done
And I'm alone and I'm ashamed
Hold me in your arms
And now I'm sorry for what I've done

i think this is a song about a person who wants forgiveness now, from somebody who they hurt in the past.

i don't think it refers to God b/c quotes like "Underneath the sky we sleep" make it pretty obvious that he's referring to another person.

"underneath the night sky we sleep" that just means that everyone is under the night sky sleeping, not two people or anything like that. and he wants forgivness from God, obviously. these are christain artists...

This song is about someone who wants to let go of something bad they've done, but they're scared and want comfort.

Yes, they're a Christian group, but really, I look at lyrics to all of their songs, and think that if I didn't know they were a Christian band, I would have no idea that they were talking about Jesus. Which I like, because the music is really good...and I'm not a fan of gospel.

I know they're a christian band but they have a point "underneath the sky we sleep" but then he says "im alone" it could mean alone like no ones here with me or Gods not with me, but i guess it depends on the person hearing the song. To me theyre crying out for forgiveness to God/friend/girlfriend, it dosnt matter but theyre asking for forgiveness and they have tried to make it better but "The words you've heard a thousand times,Ive tried before but now i feel like letting go Of everything that hurts the most" makes it seem like the person did forgive them but they cant forgive themselves, and now hes letting go.BUT thats what i think (:

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
