I just came to say I love you and see if you would be needing anything.
To say thank you and how greatful I am for everything you taught me.
It's those long talks I won't forget.
Just to see you smile, it brings me right to them.
So I'll sit here now and hold your hand.
It's these few long hours that make me what I am.

We laugh about the times, we laughed so hard until we fell asleep this evening.
And then I watch you there alone, in fear, wishing I could speed your breathing.
And all the wind blows through the trees.
I swear there are angels talking back to me.
And I scream please don't leave me here tonight.
I need you now, I need you in my life.

But you're gone and you're never coming back again.
But you're gone and you're never coming back again.
But you're gone and you're never coming back again.
But you're gone and you're never coming, you're never coming back.
But you're gone and you're never coming back again.

this is about when dean's grandparents die, its from the point of view of matt's wife since dean went and stayed with them. its gotta be pretty scary losing the people who brought you into the world, especially when now you have to take responsibility for the son you brought into the world. this song, i feel, is a realization period for the mother. great song.

I agree. I feel like this is Dean's mother talking about how Dean reminds her of her parents, and how she misses them: "Just to see you smile, it brings me right to them". "but you're gone and you're never coming back." I think that refers to her parents and her son. She's beginning to take responsibility for her son

This could also be about his grandma dying? But i think you two are probably right.

This song for some reason hits my heart. Its such an amazing song. Mellow and calm and so nice. :)

I always thought it was Dean singing to his grandma in her last hours of life. I can picture him sitting next to her at her valuing what he had and wanting to make her as comfortable as possible. Even though it was just written for the story cd, it's still my favorite song by the band.

I agree with your interpretations, but this one has extreme personal meaning to me...

Recently, I had a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong and she JUST left on Friday. Sadly, we both realized WHEN SHE GOT HOME that we have major feelings for each other, and like each other alot. We were both in tears explaining how badly we wish we could see each other and be with each other, even if it is just one more meeting to pretend we aren't halfway across the world and we can share each others presence one for more time, and be together like we know we're supposed to be.

You couldn't give me any sum of money to get through this song with dry eyes. Ever.

repeating those last lines like that is pretty strong. it could make you think about any relationship that's coming to an end, which can be heartbreaking.

i agree with waZZgLE, that this song was from Dean, to his grandmother. his parents left him with his grandparents, so this song tells of the death of his grandmother and it was like he lost his mom, the woman that raised him. this would the part of the story where Dean's grandparents can't take care of him, so he must live with his real parents now. one of my fav's too.

it reminds of copeland's beneath medicine tree album, all the hospital bed songs. very strong imagery.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
