You lie awake at night
With blue eyes that never cry
All you remember now
Is what you feel

The truth remains
In midnight conversations
I asked for this moment
But you turned away

Sad like a lonely child
Broken the day you're born
I held the light to you
But I was so vain

And you remain
A promise unfulfilled
I ask you for more
But you push me away

And if we feel the silence
Holding this all inside
Everything means more now than
Words could explain

And if we feel the silence
Holding this all inside us
Looking for something more to say
I don't know where I'm going
Only know where I been
But you move through my soul like a hurricane wind
We've been so lost for so long
I don't know how to get back again
And we're drowning in the water
That flows under this bridge
When you're fighting the current
You forget how to live
And I wanted to reach you but I don't know where to begin
And you remain
A promise unfulfilled until today

And if we feel the silence
Holding this all inside
Everything means more now than
Words could explain
And if we feel the silence
Leaving this all behind us
When it's gone what will you say

How do we hold on [Repeats]

You lie awake at night
With blue eyes that never cry

can't believe more haven't posted on this song. when i first heard the song i thought "if we feel the silence" line was something to do with an ending of a relationship, because you feel something is wrong and you don't talk when you are about to break up with somebody. However after reading the lyrics i agree with music psycho and gonletitslide. It's about helping a friend open up to the world and be themselves when they are going through a tough time. My favourite song on the album along with let love in. dolls rock!

i agree with gladius, "you lie awake at night, with blue eyes that never cry" is an amazing line. to me it symbolizes someone who is so lost or depressed that they just can't cry, they don't know who they are or why they're so insignificant.. or something along those lines. hard to explain. but incredible song.

This song is very touching to me..

I was fighting with a female friend and I realize that it wasn't the same, and that I wanted to reach her but I never knew how to do it... That's why I think this song is about a relation (friendship or love relationship) that is ending, he knows where he's been but he doesn't know where he's going, he remembers how this relation used to be, but it just not the same, and maybe it will be not the same anymore. Maybe this song is not about a friendship, but phrases like "and if we feel the silence holding this all inside us looking for something more to say..." were saying what I was living, with the silence bringing our friendship down and me trying to say something to break the silence.

This song has amazing lines "you lie awake at night with blue eyes that never cry", "everything means more now than words could explain" and my favorite:

"when it's gone, what will you say?" That's why I'm asking now, what will I say?...

I have never heard this song, but I think that just by reading the lyrics, it is an amazing song. You may know someone who you care about. They may be struggling with something. Maybe their life is hard. But you can't reach them. You only know that something is wrong, and no matter how much you would like to help, they can't seem to let you in. It's really quite sad, but true. It happens

i think this song is about dealing with someone who is constantly dealing with their problems and troubles...he wants to help this person and become part of their world and he's basically just saying that sometimes silence is more powerful than words

This song is one of the only songs off of the new album that I like. The chorus is really atmospheric and well done, but lyrically it's one of the weakest things Johnny has ever written.

He made a promise to her, but hasn't been able to fufill it until now. Despite the fact that shes been hurt, he wants to be mroe to her then he is now, but not to her. I think that they have a feeling for one anotehr that means more to them then they can explain.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
