Take me now
I’ll show you how to live your life like you should
Be the one, at seventeen, to kill yourself with a gun
You said you’d be there
You will be there to make up for the things that you’ve done
You said you’d be there
You were never there to make up for the things

Whoa, I can tell you how
Whoa, you’re not happy now
Whoa, you could be with me
Whoa, you could be happy

Take me now
I’ll show you how this life will twist you around
And be the one, at seventeen, to love the smell on the ground
You said you’d be there
You will be there to make up for the things that you’ve done
You said you’d be there
You were never there to make up for the things

My heart can taste the ghost of you inside of me and soon you’ll see

Okay, I know the meaning of this song for sure. For the past few days I've been working with my mom. & someone she works with knows someone who's best friends with the lead singer of Meriwether. So here's the story:

When Drew was in his first band, all the four guys made a pact that if one of them died, even after the band was over, the rest would kill themselves. Well, one of the guys ended up killing himself. The other two kept with the pact, and killed themselves. But Drew didn't kill himself.

& that's what it's about. The girl my mom works with said he hardly ever performs it. Like maybe once every two years. When he does perform it, he cries & stuff.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
