In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Ummm... it's not his son. The vocals in this song are done by a women named Jarboe. The only song Devo is involved in is Pet.
just kidding
Until I found this site I thought renholder was a weird little song and always skipped it. Then I found out about "Dannnnny Lohner". The result of playing it backwards. Well I also always thought lullaby was a weird little song - SO I reversed it too. I am feeling nauseated to tell you all that if you do that you will hear "I want incest" x 6. Which may put a whole new light on Pet and so on.
Well that's all the more disturbing if you note that it's his son singing the 'guitar riff' in this song...and it's funny because I thought pet was about child abuse/an abusive relationship even before I knew this and was very surprised about all the bush/war arguing.
Ha ha just read the comments above from ObsessiveTendencies, so it's NOT his son. Well that's what a friend of mine told me I guess you better check your facts before you blurt them out into the world! XD His son HAS an cameo on this album though...

Not too sure about this one. All I know for sure is that it's Maynard's son, Devo, singing the guitar riff from Pet. Maybe it ties into the drug-theme by showing how the addict has gotten what he needed, and can finally relax and enjoy the high.... I guess basically how the drug is soothing him.
I think lullabye is conveying a behavoral pattern you arnet able to free yourself from. It is after pet, and pet can be percieved as the behavoral pattern speaking to the person, comforting him. The repeated line "go back to sleep" in lullabye is showing how the person is unable to free himself from the pattern of behavior. Somethings are just to hard to free yourself from. In gravity this carryed on. "UNable to just let this go" or "tail in hand".
I think this song is totally about the crayon melting on the window seal from the unbarraable heat of the sun and that was Jarboe's favorite crayon and she is crying (na nana na na na nay) and before hand Maynard was tellng her to go back to sleep and forget about the crayon and focus on the butterflies and multicolored doornobs the world has to offer you.
How high are you?
This is just a followup to "Pet." I don't believe it has any particular meaning unto itself, aside from the subject literally falling asleep as the music fades out.
hahah lloyd. yeah
thank you nicole, if you guys are wondering I have song meanings for the outsider and a stranger from MJK himself. so,
This song really spins me out when I'm high
