This is the most unusual story of a most unusual girl
She's the paint in my picture of a most unusual world
She can crawl out a frame while she's hanging on the wall
And she's calling my name, she's not so usual

Oh no, she's not so usual
Oh, no

She's mostly a ghost, the way she watches over me
She complains when I smoke but then you do the same to me
She's controlling my brain activity, knowing when I go to sleep
She's gonna catch me when I'm falling hard
She's most unusual

Oh, no, she's not so usual
Oh, no, she's not so usual
Oh, no, she's not so usual
Oh, no

She's not so hooked on me drugs like I thought that she was
And never sucking on the lime and hardly sipping on the wine
And despite of her bipolar roller costering
I think I can trust she'll keep me singing differently

And that's fine, 'cause she's with me now most all of the time
Trying and saving my life, thinking not of her own
And always kissing me goodnight when I just need to be alone
She's so sweet, so discreet, she's exactly what I need
Not even make believe

Oh oh, she's not so usual
She's not so you

Oh say, she's not so, not so usual
But you see not too practical neither, babe
I said, "She's not so, not so mystical, not too magical
Why? Because she say so"
Not so out of control and not so into the fold
Oh, she's not so usual

She's a natural
Oh, she's not so usual
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
She wants to do is so
She's not so you

Oh, she's not so you
Not so, no

Ahhhh great song, it just shows how ironic some things can be. Although she does all these things you normally wouldn't exactly like, or that's really strange, its just so odd that you still love her so much

OMG onl ONE person has commented on this song?! are you kidding me?! Wow. Well the way i see this song, is that i want to BE this girl. I imagine her with long dark hair and mesmerising eyes. And he is totally intrigued by this girl. She knows him- She's always kissing me goodnight when i just need to be alone, she so sweet, so discreet. And my favorite part: She never sipping on the wine and hardly sucking on the lime and despite of her bi polar rollercoastering, i think i can trust she'll keep me singing differently.

    Wow.

This song is relatable to me. This guy and I have been through our ups-and-downs together for the past 2 years. We've sort of had an on and off relationship since, but now we're trying it as friends. We can't seem to deal w/o eachother. Despite the fact that this guyfriend of mine is bi-polar and quite contagious, I love him. And he's sweet. And we have the weirdest kind of relationship but I couldn't imagine my life without him.

Aww how friggin corny. But 'tis true, 'tis true. :) Go Mraz.

I love this song, im a guy and not afraid 2 cry when i listen to this beautiful song as the lyrics relate 100% to my situation. I have a girlfriend who watched her parents die right in front of her very eyes and as a result, has become mentally unstable. She has nightmares almost every night and sometimes during the day as well but theres just something about this girl which makes me want 2 never desert her. She shuts her eyes and closes her ears with her hands many times during the day 2 shut out these nightmares and she gets strange looks from other people all the time but i dont care. Shes definitely not so usual but shes the most beautiful girl i have ever meant. She may seem strange on the outside but inside, she is the most caring, amazing and special girl i have ever come across. Thank You Jason Mraz for singing such a great song, its really touched my heart

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
