(chorus)
I got a needle in my vein that bleeds for you
And it speaks the truth for what its worth
Somehow everyone is fading away...and i'm still stuck in yesterday

If love was one of those things that you could buy at a drug store
Then you would be soldout
I guess that means i'm calling you a sellout
The sun is rising, coming up over the buildings(made of stone like you)
And everytime i stay tonight, it's like i know it's my last chance to escape...
Your arms and kill myself, now i wish alot of things.
But it's ok...it's ok...tomorrow's just a few hours away

I got a needle in my vein that bleeds for you
And it speaks the truth for what its worth
Somehow everyone is fading away...and i'm still stuck in yesterday

A romance with you is like playing with shadows
So black...but i guess that's the way it goes
You're just one bright ray of fucking sunshine (yeah right)
I'm one of those people that wear sunglasses at night
It's like no matter what i say to you...it's so cold, it's so cold
Lying in your bed i pray tonight that tomorrow won't come...and this day could last forever or rather that it never happened at all
But it's ok...it's ok...I'm too busy laughing in your face.

This isn't something to remember me by
I just wanted you to know, whore...
Your lips were on a different guy
So i'm still laughing while you are dying tonight
But it's ok...it's ok...Yesterday's a million miles away.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
