One Saturday I took a walk to Zipperhead
I met a girl there and she almost knocked me dead

(Punk rock girl), please look at me
(Punk rock girl), what do you see?
Let's travel 'round the world
Just you and me, punk rock girl

I tapped her on the shoulder
And said do you have a beau?
She looked at me and smiled and said she did not know

(Punk rock girl), give me a chance
(Punk rock girl), let's go slam dance
We'll dress like Minnie Pearl
Just you and me, punk rock girl

We went to the Philly Pizza Company and ordered some hot tea
The waitress said, "Well no, we only have it iced"
So we jumped up on the table and shouted, "Anarchy"
And someone played a Beach Boys song on the jukebox
It it was California Dreamin'
So we started screamin'
"On such a winter's day"

She took me to her parents for a Sunday meal
Her father took one look at me and he began to squeal

(Punk rock girl), it makes no sense
(Punk rock girl), your dad is the vice president
Rich as the Duke of Earl
Yeah, you're for me punk rock girl

We went to a shopping mall
And laughed at all the shoppers
And security guards trailed us to a record shop
We asked for Mojo Nixon
They said, "He don't work here"
We said, "If you don't got Mojo Nixon then your store could use some fixin'"

We got into her car away, we started rollin'
I said, "How much you pay for this?"
She said, "Nothin', man, it's stolen"

(Punk rock girl) you look so wild
(Punk rock girl) let's have a child
We'll name her Minnie Pearl
Just you and me
Eat fudge banana swirl
Just you and me
We'll travel round the world
Just you and me
Punk rock girl

" I tapped her on the shoulder And said do you have a bell? "

    That's wrong

    The correct lyrics are :

" I tapped her on the shoulder And said do you have a beau "

Forget overblown generic love ballads; this is the sweetest, most sincere, love song ever.

"We'll travel round the world just you and me punk rock girl.: Simplest, most earnest declaration of love ever. I'd totally fall head over heels for any guy who said that to me.

Ooh, I love this song. It reminds me of going to South Street.

Psh. Of course, Zipperhead is no longer Zipperhead. They moved and now they're Crash Bang Boom. Same thing, different name/location.

    Mmm. Philly Pizza Company.

Now whenever I hear California Dreaming I want to get up and scream...

Did anyone else see the NN2S comic, where it shows the two guys going to the Philly Pizza Company and order tea and the waitress says "Must we do this every time?" and the next panel they're on the table screaming anarchy?

anyway, i love this song to death. it's probably one of my favorite songs ever. it's so adorable, without being too sappy. :]

The couple in this song are horrible parents. They have a child, name it Minnie Pearl, then travel the world without it!

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
