Floating in the everglades
Faces lit in sun
A moon that lights a thousand ways across
Is company for one

Oh won't you come back to me
Oh won't you shine out for me

Falling down from grace
In houses made for one
Holding matches til they burn away
Ashes to the wind

Oh won't you come back to me
Oh won't you shine out for me

Only you, it's only for you
Always true
But time is passing by
Only you
Always you
But every time we cry
We wave the sun goodbye
Moonshine

Desolate the renegades
Poisoned tongues persuade
Take the hand that carried you above
Oceans to the grave

Oh won't you come back to me
Oh won't you shine out for me

Only you, it's only for you
Always true
But time is passing by
Only you
Always you
But every time we cry
We wave the sun goodbye
Moonshine

Tear yourself, you tear yourself...
Going over every minute every second in your mind
Turning over catching fragments of a life before you die
Going over every second, every minute left behind...

It's only for you
Always true
But time is passing by
Only you, always you
But every time we cry
We wave the sun goodbye
Moonshine

Only you, it's only for you
Always true
But time is passing by
Only you
Always you
But every time we cry
We wave the sun goodbye
Moonshine

Simply beautiful. I like the way the song changes during the first minutes before it finally breaks out again.

This makes me really depressed... For me it makes me think about the person I love. And how much that person means to me. Which also makes me depressed... I am not an emotional person. Only a few songs make me go like this... And it's a good thing! I love this song despite the feelings it brings.

Given the situation of the band as this album was being recorded, this song never fails to make me ball my stupid eyes out.

Almost inconsequentially, at this late date, I think the line is "matches as we burn away".

It's so clearly -- and beautifully -- about the loss of a loved one, and the lessening importance of that loss as life, as it will, progresses -- I'm crying right now.

I thought I was over this.

Always true, but time, y'know? What can you do, but live and love? I wish I could be more eloquent, but I'm rocking out too much and crying too hard -- which is surely all the tribute needed.

Amazing song, brilliant lyrics, brilliant music, and they support each other, well, brilliantly :) Love the way it progresses and the poetic honesty of the lyrics about proper themes rather than 'shawtie hit the flaw'. At about 5 minutes through when it cuts out I always think it's over and I'm genuinely sad because I want the song to keep going, and then it does and I love how that makes me feel, I think that also adds to the meaning. I'd never understood the bit from 'going over' to 'left behind' until I looked it up and realised that there is even more depth to the meaning adn poetry of this song, it's just brilliant.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
