You'll walk unscathed through musket fire
No ploughman's blade will cut thee down
No cutlass wound will mark thy face
And you will be my ain true love
And you will be my ain true love

And as you walk through death's dark veil
The cannon's thunder can't prevail
And those who hunt thee down will fail
And you will be my ain true love
And you will be my ain true love

Asleep inside the cannon's mouth
The captain cries, 'here comes the rout!'
They'll seek to find me north and south
I've gone to find my ain true love

The field is cut and bleeds to red
The cannon balls fly 'round my head
The infirmary man may count me dead
When I've gone to find my ain true love
I've gone to find my ain true love

This song makes me think of ture love. Its' from cold mountain, which i haven't seen but know some of the story, with two people who have been seperated because of war but still remain in love. They are fighting through death and combat to get to one another, never giving up and doing as much as they can to find each other.

I think this song means that a woman is waiting for her love to go home and she would do anything for his safity. It's about hard war times.

Sting wrote this song for the movie saying that it was from the perspective of the woman. She's singing the song to protect and guide her lover back to her. Beautiful lyrics and beautifully sung. One of my favorite movies.

This song is somewhat simple but really haunting, about love being strong enough to overcome anything even though the world has gone to hell and life very often just doesn't work out that way. It perfectly fits the heroine character in the movie and the kind of hope she holds onto but I think somehow still sort of conveys the darkness of the story.

This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest songs made in recent years. Because of this, I would like to point out that the lyrics floating around on the internet aren't quite accurate.

They sing: 'No cutlass wound will mar thy face.'

As well as: 'They'll seek to bind me North and South.'

Is it possible to have these corrections made to the lyrics?

This song strikes like a thunderbolt. The woman tries to deliver her man to safety, and to her, by her blessings. The man speaks as a maelstrom overtakes him. The possibility hinted by the last verse that he is already dying, and that he has gone to find his true love in another world, adds to the haunting effect.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
