I've got wheels of polished steel
I've got tires that grab the road
I've got seats that selflessly hold my friends
And a trunk that can carry the heaviest of loads

I've got a mind that can steer me to your house
And a heart that can bring you red flowers
My intentions are good and earnest and true
But under my hood is internal combustion power

And Satan is my motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
Satan is my motor, motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
Satan is the only one who seems to understand

I've got brakes, I'm wide awake
I can stop this car at any time
At the very last second I can change direction
Turn completely around if I feel so inclined

I've got a mind that can steer me to your house
And a heart that can bring you red flowers
My intentions are good and earnest and true
But under my hood is internal combustion power

And Satan is my motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
And Satan is my motor, motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr

And Satan is the only one who seems to understand
And Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor (hear my motor)
Satan is my motor
Satan is the only one who seems to understand

    My Interpretation

Heres my take and only because Im going through it right now.

Its about a guy who goes all out for his friends, one in particuler a girl He listens to everything they say, always there for them and for her more than any he takes on there burdens to "lighten the load" so to speak. But for her this has a special significence.

He loves her, and it burns inside of him, his intentions are good, he wants to be a good friend but hwe wants her and lusts after here.

Only Satan understands. That lust for something you cant have.

I think it's about the contradictions between who we want to be and what we actually end up being/doing. It can be pretty depressing sometimes...When I first heard this song I thought it was about a model citizen who wanted to break free and be "bad", so to speak. But I like XKillerX's interpretation, too.

SATAN IS EVERYTHING FUCKED UP IN THE WORLD . AN A MOTOR IS a nonspecific agent that imparts motion

the car is a metaphor for a misguided kid going through life. the car looks fine on the outside drives fine helps out dudes friends . BUT under his hood is internal combustion . in other words hes going through a interior conflict on weather or not to do the right thing.. whatever that might be.

Alright, this is just what I think this song is about: It's about a guy who has good intentions, but in the end, he does bad things because it "drives" him, so to speak. He's telling this girl that he's trouble.

I know how you feel, Thunderbolt. When my mom heard this, and "nugget" she took my mp3 player and threw to the back of the car. But a very good song. Their new cd should be out in july/august hopefully. I wish they would tour more. Their shows are great.

I see this song as a very humorous joke, making fun of everyone who brags about how cool their car is, to me it's like saying, "Oh yeah? Well, Satan is MY motor!"

burningflamingfire makes a good point.. no, not that he's always right. it's saying "i may be a knight in shining armor, and do chivalrous things, but remember that i have needs too". another great song, i think it could have used an incredible bass line like some other ones have.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
