Love is tragic, love is bold, you will always do what you were told
Love is hard, love is strong, you will never say that you belong
I don't when I got bitter, but love is surely better when it's gone
Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
And a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
Love is color, love is loud, love is never saying you're too proud
Love is trusting, love is honest, love is not a hand to hold you down
I don't know when I got bitter, but love is surely better when it's gone
Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
And a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
I gotta pick me up when I am down
I gotta get my feet back on the ground
I gotta pick me up when I am down
I don't know when I got bitter, but love is surely better when it's gone
Cause you wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
And a life that I can't live
You wanted more
More than I could bear
More than I could offer
For a love that isn't there
You wanted more
More than I could learn
More than I could offer
And if only you would show
You wanted more
More than I could give
More than I could handle
And a life that I can't live

Maybe he's saying love is a simple thing. People try to hard to define love and compare it to lust and all things associated with that. He just wanted to love a girl and she wanted something complicated?

Everyone has been there when you realize that your love is expecting emotionally. They "want more, more then I could give, more then I could handle,in a life that I can't live"...great song. :)

I think it's about a boy who truly loved a girl that just didn't get the picture. I'm not sure if she was to imature or what but in the end he's having to turn his back on her because no matter how hard he tried...it wasn't appreciated by her.

She wanted more than he could bear because she wanted so little and he couldn't help but give as much as possible. It's about respect. At least that's what I think the song is about since that's how my relationship with my man is right now....except I'm in his shoes.

    Memory

This reminds me of this chick i used to date, she was such an b*** to me, and very high maintenance but i was crazy for her. I would break my back to get her things or take her somewhere and she never appreciated it, or if i bought her something expensive it wasn't the "right one" but some reason i was in love. ugh so glad that's over.

    My Interpretation

I think the song is about a man who got his heart broken and regrets his feeling for her. So here is my interpretation, enjoy!

Love Is Tragic Love Is Bold You Will Always Do What You Are Told (He thinks that love has been depressing for him and that this girl never thought for herself)

Love Is Hard Love Is Strong You Will Never Say That You Were Wrong (He feels that the girl treated him unfairly and denied her wrongdoing) I Don't Know When I Got Bitter But Love Is Surely Better When It's Gone (Basically, he is saying that this girl broke his heart in half and he wishes that love would never exist)

'Cause You Wanted More More Than I could Give More than I could handle In a life that I can't live (He realizes that she wanted more and nothing was ever good enough for her) You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer For a love that isn't there (This girl faked her feelings, by leading him on and pretending that she loved him)

Love is color Love is loud Love is never saying you're too proud (He feels that love isn't perfect and that it's vivid enough for him to see) Love is trusting Love is honest Love is not a hand that holds you down (He feels that love shouldn't be full of lies, which is what the girl was telling him the whole time)

I don't know when I got bitter But love is surely better when it's gone (Once again, he is saying that this girl broke his heart in half and he wishes that love would never exist)

'Cause You Wanted More More Than I could Give More than I could handle In a life that I can't live You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer For a love that isn't there (Same as above for the chorus)

I got to pick me up when I am down I got to get my feet back on the ground I got to pick me up when I am down (He now knows that he must get over her and move on with his love life)

'Cause You Wanted More More Than I could Give More than I could handle In a life that I can't live You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer For a love that isn't there (Same as above for the chorus)

You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer The harder you would shove (The lies kept piling up and he realizes that she's no longer "the one") You Wanted More More Than I could Give More than I could handle For a love that isn't there (He feels that nothing will ever be good enough for her and no longer loves her)

it's about how beutiful love is, or can be, and how [whoever he's singing about, maybe everyone] wanted more than that... and he can't bare that... i don't know if thats right, thats just how i see it...

Excellent song. If you could define love, which you can't, it's doing a decent job ^_^

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
