This is a song about good times;
It's a song about pain.
This is a song about love,
How it can drive you insane.
This is a song about life
When the going gets tough.
This is a song about people.
This is a song about stuff.

Won't you be my target audience?
Won't you listen to this song?
You know I wrote it just for you.
Won't you sing along.

This is a song about you
And how you're discontent.
This is a song about my angst about
Disillusionment.
This is a song about friendship;
It's a song about sex.
This is a song about relationships.
This is a song about sex.

Won't you give us publicity?
You can take anything.
We'll even let you have the drummer's soul.
You know we've waited
All our lives
To get touched with your ten-foot pole. So...

We can reach our target audience.
And have them listen to this song.
You know we wrote it just for you.
Now everybody sing along...

[really amazing guitar solo]

This is a song about nothing,
Like, uh, deep in your soul.
This is a song about reality
As a great big whole.
This is a song about peace.
This is a song about war.
This song is a composite
Of the songs we wrote before.

When I sing this song the thousandth time
The music's there, the words still rhyme.
I hope you know exactly how I feel.
If it's too boring we'll remix it.
If there's a problem we can fix it.
Anything to keep it sounding real. So...

We can please our target audience.
So they'll still listen to this song.
You know we wrote it just for you.
Won't you sing along?

This is a song about money;
It's about a career.
This is a song about giving you
What you want to hear.
This is a song that takes up space
On our CD.
Is this a song from the heart?
Well, don't ask me.

[repeat chorus and fade]

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
