Manowar – Guyana (Cult of the Damned) Lyrics 15 years ago
Awesome song, one of Manowar's best. Lyrically it's great too, sometimes Manowar lyrics are painful to read but these are very well done. Love the line:

"Now all together we lived as we died
On your command, by your side"

Sublime – Wrong Way Lyrics 15 years ago

Judas Priest – The Sentinel Lyrics 15 years ago

Sodom – Agent Orange Lyrics 15 years ago
Yep, Agent Orange was the name given to a certain type of herbacide that the US military used to make clearings in Vietnam. They didn't know it at the time, but Agent Orange was a carcinogen(cancer causing agent) and a really strong one too. So thousands of vietnamese civilians, and US soldiers died from exposure to the chemical. And even still to this day, children are born with birth defects and mental retardation as a result of Agent Orange.

Great song too, heavy as hell. It has one of the meanest sounding choruses I've ever heard. "agent orange....fire that doesn't burn!!"

Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics 15 years ago
This has to be one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard, so beautiful.

Elliott Smith – Angeles Lyrics 15 years ago
I always thought it was about Los Angeles as well, but who knows. Such a beautiful song though, one of this best.

Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics 15 years ago
Man this song is a masterpiece, it's just so perfect in every way. It's surprisingly bombastic for Elliot Smith, but he pulls it off so well.

The drug references are thick in this one.

Alice in Chains – Shame In You Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is definitely a hidden gem, it's probably my favorite song on their last album.

submissions
The Church – Reptile Lyrics 16 years ago
The dirty sounding guitar really makes this song, it almost seems out of place in a song like this but works so well.

I agree with bear hug, it's just a clever way of describing a failed relationship.

submissions
Asia – Heat Of The Moment Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh man the South Park rendition of this song was so hilariously awesome, love it.

submissions
Oasis – Stop Crying Your Heart Out Lyrics 16 years ago
This song has the most infectious chorus I've ever heard.

submissions
Deep Purple – Child In Time Lyrics 16 years ago
The vocals in this song are so perfect, it has to be my favorite vocal performance ever. Even though the vocals only last for what, like a minute? Still it's such a beautiful song, I only wish it were longer.

The Sisters of Mercy – This Corrosion Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is just cool as hell, if it was written basically as a joke then that just makes it even more awesome. Love that final verse, and at the very end when he screams out "like a healing hand!"

submissions
The Sisters of Mercy – Marian Lyrics 16 years ago
This song creates such a dark and depressing atmosphere, matching the lyrics so well.

I have no clue what it's really about, but judging by the mood of the song, it sounds like it's about a man on the verge of suicide. He's searching for someone to pull him out of a deep depression, I'm not sure if he actually knows Marian, or he's just calling out to someone in general.

submissions
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Christine Lyrics 16 years ago
Haha I had no clue she said "banana split lady" even knowing that, it still doesn't sound like thats what she's saying.

Willie Nelson – Seven Spanish Angels Lyrics 16 years ago
Can't believe that there are no comments on this classic.

To me it sounds like it's about an American who went down to Mexico and fell in love with a Mexican girl(note he specifically mentions that she has brown eyes) in a time when it probably wasn't a good idea for an American to be in Mexico with a Mexican girl. And the wrong people found out about it, and they came to take the guy away, back to America. But he refuses to leave, and makes a stand only to be gunned down. The woman decides that she is gonna do the same, they both die and the spanish angels take them away.

I guess it's pretty straight forward, but it's a good piece of storytelling none-the-less.

The Fixx – One Thing Leads To Another Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a very clever song, despite it's almost pop sound. It certainly sounds as if he's describing a president, or at least some type of leader.

This song has such a good vibe to it, it flows so well, it's just a perfectly made song I don't know what else to say about it.

Tenacious D – City Hall Lyrics 16 years ago
Oops I realized I was wrong on the lyrics I quoted up there, it's "settin' fuckin' fires."

submissions
Tenacious D – Wonderboy Lyrics 16 years ago
Haha this song is awesome, I'm not sure if there's a hidden sexual innuendo going on here or not, but never the less it's hilarious. It's also one of their best songs musically, the guitar playing is great, and Jack Black has some really good vocal melodies.

Overkill – Overkill Lyrics 16 years ago
Badass song about the right hand of the devil, the fictional Overkill.

Demons & Wizards – Wicked Witch Lyrics 16 years ago
Because pretty much every other song on Touched by the Crimson King is based off of the book, if you have to ask why people assume these things then maybe you should do a google search or something.

Personally I have no clue what the song is about, but it's beautiful, short and sweet.

Echo and the Bunnymen – Bring On The Dancing Horses Lyrics 16 years ago
Good interpretation jackflashjess, makes a lot of sense, almost feels like that has to be what the song is about now that I've read it and listened to the song.

The Church – Almost With You Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah I love this, nice and mellow poppy alt rock song.

The lyrics are very....Abstract. It's really hard to tell what the meaning is behind this one.

submissions
Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is simply timeless, Wonderwall may have gotten all the attention but Champagne Supernova is every bit as good or better.

It has a lot of sentimental value to me, it was the song I remember the most from a period of time where I lost someone very close to me. Very emotional song, beautiful, classic, and one of the best things to come out of the 90's.

submissions
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Happy When It Rains Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is amazing, it's so damn dark and somber, but kinda uplifting at the same time. I love the tone of his voice in the verses, he sounds like he's not even trying to sing or like he doesn't care, Robert Smith had that same style in some of the earlier The Cure songs.

The lyrics to this are great too, it kinda sounds like he's singing about a girl who might have treated him bad but he's so in love with her that he almost enjoys the pain she causes. But I dunno, a lot of the lines in the verses are just plain weird.

submissions
Echo and the Bunnymen – Ocean Rain Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is beautiful, so soft and somber, yet dark and moody at the same time. The chorus is brilliant, even though I'm not entirely sure what it means, it's a great sounding metaphor. Reminds me a bit of the Doors song The End, Ian sounds a lot like Jim Morrison in this one too.

submissions
Echo and the Bunnymen – Nothing Lasts Forever Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is very Beatles-esque, and the lyrics are amazing. I swear every Echo and the Bunnymen song, no matter how happy it sounds, has a dark undertone to it, either in the lyrics or the music itself.

submissions
Skid Row – Get The Fuck Out Lyrics 16 years ago
Thanks for posting that Magoosh08 that's pretty damn cool.

I love this song man, it's so obvious they were heavily influenced by Guns N' Roses when they recorded this.

Ugly Kid Joe – Everything About You Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah this song is timeless. Youthful, rebelious lyrics that I'm sure any teenage or 20-something can relate too. Not to mention the fact that it's one of the most catchy songs I've ever heard.

The voice at the beginning is Pat from old Saturday Night Live skits, he/she had her own movie too. Pat was really a chick though, Julia Sweeney.

submissions
Gorillaz – Clint Eastwood Lyrics 16 years ago
It definitely sounds like someone getting high and they feel that they see things better, and think more clearly when they are high. It's like he becomes another person when he gets stoned.

Such a fun song, one of the few country songs I really enjoy. Can't imagine a better bar song than this.

Pink Floyd – A Pillow of Winds Lyrics 16 years ago
I can't say that I particularly like this song, but I will admit it's one of the most calm and relaxing songs I've ever heard in my life. They certainly created a great atmosphere with this one.

Pink Floyd – One of My Turns Lyrics 16 years ago
Man this song is so amazingly good, it fits so well in the story of the album and it's just a great song on it's own as well.

Echo and the Bunnymen – Lips Like Sugar Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is just sexy as hell. I agree the first verse is great, I love when he sings "just when you think you've caught her...she glides across the water" oh man, I'm a guy but it makes me wanna do him.

submissions
Echo and the Bunnymen – Bring On The Dancing Horses Lyrics 16 years ago
I have to admit I have no clue what this song is about either, very abstract lyrics. Although it does appear to be about some sort of broken heart thats about all I can make out.

Such a beautiful song, it creates this "swimming" effect it almost makes you dizzy. Echo and the Bunnymen were great at making dark atmospheric pop songs, and like all their songs this one has a really dark undertone to it.

submissions
Opeth – Harvest Lyrics 16 years ago
My god this has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. So somber and bleak yet so powerful. It always reminds me of fall when the leaves start to wither away and fall from the trees and the grass dies.

submissions
Msd – Burn This Night Lyrics 16 years ago
Wow, very suprised to see these guys on here. A hard rock band from Louisville, KY these guys were/are seriously good. Not sure if they are still around. Pretty much all of their songs were horror songs, I don't think there's alot of depth here. But they are very good lyrics for what they are.

submissions
Skid Row – Big Guns Lyrics 16 years ago
Talk about an overlooked song, this is probably Skid Row's best and you never hear anything about it.

Ok so the lyrics are really ridiculous, but it still kicks ass.

submissions
Helloween – Ride The Sky Lyrics 16 years ago
Definetly a song about freedom and self empowerment. This is one of the first songs that come to mind when I think of straight up heavy metal, it rocks hard, a true classic.

submissions
Sanctuary – Battle Angels Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah not alot of depth to the lyrics, but they are decent fantasy style lyrics. Warrel Dane can really hit the high notes, this song has probably shattered some windows before.

submissions
Helloween – A Tale That Wasn't Right Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a beautiful song really, it gets trashed on alot but I love it. Anyone notice that Kiske sounds ALOT like Elton John in a couple parts of this song?

submissions
Metal Church – Watch The Children Pray Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with Kylekraze totally. The song feels very apocalyptic, people are dying needlessly and the narrator is finally realizing this now as he's dying and he imagines the children praying for a brighter future. Although he seems to die willingly, and others die with him, not really sure what to make of it all really.

Such a haunting and beautiful song though.

Tenacious D – City Hall Lyrics 16 years ago
Man this song is so hilarious and awesome, any song that talks about tube technology, legalizing marijuana, and rock-em sock-em robots is great in my book.

I love the "startin' fuckin' fires" part, sounds awesome.

submissions
South Park – Up There By Satan Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh man this song is great. I love how it sounds exactly like any random Disney song.

But he says: "Because of my beliefs I'm supposed to stay where evil is sewn"

Tenacious D – Kickapoo Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh man this song is awesome, I love how they made Metloaf and Dio's parts sound like songs from those guys. Dio still sounds awesome even though he's like 180 years old.

submissions
Shadows Fall – The Power Of I And I Lyrics 17 years ago
Definetly not death metal, but good music none the less. This song sounds like it's about self empowerment, taking responsiblity for your actions and doing whatever it is you wanna do.

submissions
Shadows Fall – To Ashes Lyrics 17 years ago
Man this song is beautiful, especially the remake with Brian Fair doing the vocals. I guess taken literally it's about a failed relationship. Very poetic, nice metaphors, seriously well written lyrics.

Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics 17 years ago
The line, "I'll wait for you there, like a stone" is so simple yet so powerful. Such a great metaphor. Think about what a stone is, a stone knows nothing but to "wait" it's entire existence is spent waiting. A stone can lie dormant and "wait" for thousands of years. To wait for someone or something "like a stone" is like the ultimate way to express that.
