A Wilhelm Scream – The Pool Lyrics
|
Its about being in a messed up relationship and how its so complicated that both are being screwed in the relationship. He then claims that when he wants to renew his life (through killing himself) she'll find him lying face down in the pool, but she won't even have to look, because she'll be dead there too.
So overall the song is about that mindset that many suicidal people go through, that they believe that killing themselves will be better than continuing living on earth. |

Strung Out – Katatonia Lyrics
|
Katatonia may refer to a girl who is damaging to you, but I think it also refers to a drug addiction. I know for a fact that Jason Cruz has experimented with drugs before, and whether or not he was ever an addict, this sounds like a first person account of an addict. They hate it, but they love it, and love usually overpowers hate, but in this case, that's bad. |

Strung Out – Blueprint Of The Fall Lyrics

Rather than taking the "fuck Bush" approach like most bands were at the time, Strung Out offers a sophisticated look at how 9/11 changed everything and how its quite apparent corporations are ruling the world for their benefits over the peoples benefits. |

Strung Out – Analog Lyrics

I think the song is about feelings of isolation and depression through a relationship...the "we are" parts are referring to the countless others who also experienced this pain. In the end, he's rising above the bad relationship and becoming his own person again. |

Strung Out – Jack Knife Lyrics
|
Saint Maria represents something the singer is chasing after and longing for...could be a girl or a goal or a dream or even drugs. His journey after this entity has made him loose confidence in himself ("As the sun begins to set, I know that can't make it on my own"). He is so obsessed with it he feels like it is torturing him ("And the voodoo that you bring is chasing me through my dreams You got me looking over my shoulder all day long")
But soon he realizes that he doesn't need this entity, because the entity isn't as great as it sounds. All that glitters is not gold.
"She's got black angels to carry me away, so take me away" refers to how its damaging to him, and that he wants it all to end, since it seems inevitable at this point. |

Propagandhi – Life At Disconnect Lyrics
|
I think this song is an anti-war song
"Had they been the ones dying under the cooking sun, picking through the dust, scratching at the barren earth, had it been THEIR insides spilling into the sand, they'd see on cracking land their spirit cannot triumph.
He's saying that if the politicians and generals were the ones fighting then they would realize that they cannot win any war or use war to get whatever they want. He then cuts to talking about how in our society (western cultures like America and Canada), even though we're supposed to believe we're free and non oppressed, we all feel disconnected and unhappy and still bow to emperors.
He concludes that he's not trying to be a downer, but everyone is so disconnected from the truth (that we live in an unhappy world and a tyrannical state) and if society makes sense to you then you're messed up. He won't pretend that the citizens are on the winning end, because that never made anything different anyways. |

Its about how religion has caused and supported wars since the beginning of time. It also references how many of these "religious wars" are simply covers for the leaders to support their own goals. The song even calls for people to stand up and unite against religion based war, and war in general. |

You guys take punk ideology to seriously. |

Pantera – Floods Lyrics
|
The meaning to this song to me had been about Anselmo wishing for major floods to exterminate the human race since its brought nothing but hate, violence and fear. And since I used to be afraid of natural disasters of any kind, this song creeped out (along with the dark atmosphere of the song). Floods could also represent some sort of changing of spirit. He's sick of all this shit that he wants something to wash away the attitudes and actions of the wicked. The instrumental parts also reflect on this. During the verses, Anselmo sounds discontent for the human race, and even anger during the heavy choruses. This helps make the lyrics sound darker. However, the solo sounds uplifting, representing the floods (or the changing of spirits), and the outro gives a bitter sweet, if not positive, ending to the song. |

I'd say this song is about a guy relating to a man dying from some illness, or just havign a shitty life all together. Since its Propagandhi, its probably society they're relating to. He can't stand the daily hardships of life, and he wishes he was dead like the man (who might have killed himself), but he's gotta keep on truckin' in life. |

I agree that it has something to do with war. He's trying to survive in a foreign land while the media from back home is using him as a poster boy for the cause. Propagandhi – Incalculable Effects Lyrics

I think its about a girl who's home life is fucked up due to drugs. She avoids a woman with bleeding gums, aka a meth addict. Her mom is always passed out on the cement, and now she won't wake up. The girl then begins to blame herself for her mom's problems, which is common in fucked up households where the parents cant accept its their fault the family is messed up because of them, so they put the blame on their kids. Pretty sad song. |

Propagandhi – Without Love Lyrics
|
What people need to realize is that "emo" is an old music genre that originated in the late 80s. All it really is is less aggressive punk that molds into the alternative genre with darker lyrics and sound. It was until the early 2000s that it mixed with pop punk, and soon the emo stereotype (and anti emo attitudes of nearly every rock fan) began. Some critics argue that Propagandhi's first 2 albums, which were more pop punk than hardcore/progressive thrash, were fairly emo. Although I kinda disagree with that statement, it could be possible, and nothign really to be ashame of. Just because they make a song called "Without Love", doesnt mean they're emo. Everyone can relate to feelings of lonliness, so those assholes shouting "sell outs" were either really anti emo (which went out of style in 2008. Its all about the anti scene/core kidsnow) or they were just ignorrant. I bet you they felt this way several times. Good for Propagandhi for making a slight change to the lyrics. |

No Use For A Name – Pride Lyrics
|
Pride isn't just American pride dumbasses. It's also in race, like Mexican pride, Asian Pride, Irish Pride. Its like whats the point? You're taking pride in not being yourself and resorting to mob rules mentality. Taking pride in your heritage is rather pointless, cuz all it does is creates walls. People always point to racism, but that is a result of people taking too much pride in their ancestry and ethnicity |

Bad Religion – Bored and Extremely Dangerous Lyrics
| 13 years ago
|
Its not about heroin guys, it's so obviously not. It's about a school shooter.
He's/They are bored and have nothing to do, and they don't fit in to society. "I'm not who I seem to be" is a reference to when people say "he was the last person I would think to do such a thing."
The break in the middle signifies the school bell, and the busy operator, similar to that of the released Columbine phone calls from the library.
"I wish somebody would listen to me". Simply put, the shooters just want somebody to care for them instead of ignorring or bullying them.
In the words of Marilyn Manson in Bowling for Columbine (both lame) "I wouldn't have said a single word to them (Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold). I owuld'vel istened to what they had to say. And that's what nobody did." |

The Offspring – Leave It Behind Lyrics
|
The main perception of the song is it's about how you should leave stuff behind and move on and not live in anger. The "you were so dead wrong" could mean a little of a selfish thing like you guys above said, how he is so biased he can't see that the grudge is stupid.
It could also have the theme of "I need to leave this behind me, but I can't this time." He's telling himself what others told him: to let go up things and not be angry, but now he's questioning if he really can.
And to rexmanning, it would make sense. When Offspring left Epitaph, Gurewitz frequently criticsized the band, when in reality most independent labels usually encourage top artists to move to major promotions. Dexter was also bitter towards Brett not caring for the song "All I Want". Change the World also has the same riff from the outro on "Smash" so yeah it would make sense |
