Britney Spears – Toxic Lyrics

its refreshing to see that most of the comments are anti britney spears... really, the song has no meaning other than it was written by a professional to appeal to a young audience |

Gordon Lightfoot – Rainy Day People Lyrics

i'm not sure if Lightfoot came up with the term "rainy day people" but i'm pretty sure it is the antonym to the phrase "fair-weather friends." the type of people that are around only when times are good. |

Cake – Dime Lyrics

sometimes i think he might be talking about his unimportance in some eyes... or he may just be speaking from the point of view of a dime... i love the line "a small reminder of a simpler time, when a couple of pair of trousers cost a brand new dime" |

Oh, one of my favorites!!! what he describes in the song, to me, is real happiness. "coffee's in the kitchen, woman on the run, no need to get down on anyone." |

Gordon Lightfoot – Early Morning Rain Lyrics

I like how from his perspective, modern travel seems so "modern." He's used to being a drifter, jumping trains and hitch hiking, but air travel is something that he isn't used to |

Gordon Lightfoot – Song For A Winter's Night Lyrics

Lightfoot is great at describing moods and situations... I like the lyric "i'd be happy just to hold the hands i love" I think the bells in the song really add to the mood of a snowed in cabin. |

Gordon Lightfoot – Did She Mention My Name Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I love how he tells the story of a man wanting to know if a girl is thinking about him... That is somethings that happens all the time... Every question he asks regarding the "home team" or the "old folks" is merely a diversion to disguise his real question, the only question that he really cares about: "did she mention my name?" |
