God In The Numbers Lyrics

Sometimes you hold the world in your hands,
Sometimes the world it baffles you with plans,
Some days you drift oh so easy and free,
Some nights you sleep in blissfull harmony.

How do we leave the wreckage of our lives,
How do you leave the past out in the night,
Don't throw away the pictures that give you a smile,
Don't throw away the memories that make you cry.

I saw God in the numbers,
I saw God in the numbers,
I saw God in the numbers,
I saw God in the numbers.

I know that I could learn a little harder,
There's so much that I wanna really know,
But maybe I'm a little lazy,
Maybe I don't really wanna know.

I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers).

I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers),
I saw God in the numbers (I saw God in the numbers).

The more I learn of history the more I hate it,
'Cause we're repeating things we did a thousand years ago,
We're building palaces of fortune in the sky,
As an under class die, whites would smile.

I don't wanna...

I don't wanna...

I don't wanna...

In my opinion, human conditions is his best album, and god in the numbers is one of his best songs... I love "palaces of fortune in the sky"

i agree that "human conditions" is his best, great production value and lyrically very dense. the whole album feels like ashcroft is trying to grasp his own spirituality and his place in the world. this song is great because he admits that it's tough and he just "might be too lazy" and it's a great fit with the next song too.
