i wonder if this was an actual event. also, if the scene between the two characters was really made in the hospital and if the two characters "bonded over broken bones". either that, or this was a utter personification. i'm entirely infatuated with it. hands down, Mike's lyrics never ceases to amaze me. |

like everyone else has already stated; this song is just amazing. i think there is some relevance to buddhism here (also there is rumor that he is buddhist). i hear that mike is jewish, but i think his religion is buddhism. i dont think it really matters, but he talks about how everything is basically an illusion (maya) and how whatever we find comfort in now... will eventually be meaningless in the end. this is what buddhism teaches. we are sufffering here on earth because we allow all these materialistic comforts obtain us. in the end though, we realize everything we allowed ourseslf to be so attached to, is ruining us slowly.

I pretty much think that this entire song is self explanatory... I love it so much because it really defines how it is for people who leave thier significant spouse. I mean it may not be true, but that's how they feel... They really feel that they were the best thing for that person and that they wont find anyone else as good as them. It's just a self reliever mentality we like to give ourselves... I love this song so much. Mike Kinsella never seizes to amaze me. |
