A song comtemplating what a simple life would be like? - with a sense of humour. |
Born Ruffians – This Sentence Will Ruin/Save Your Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Shotgun And Jaybird = so amazing. |
The Hidden Cameras – Death Of A Tune Lyrics | 17 years ago |
greatsong. which means i don't know what it means |
Immaculate Machine – Phone No. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think the song is pretty self-explanitory. But it's amazing of course. Or i t could be totally opposite to what it seems to be saying - saying NOT to call when the feeling strikes, this song just being something one feels obligated to say when dumping someone. |
Immaculate Machine – No Such Thing As the Future Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is such a sunny song, love it |
The Trews – I Can't Say Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song!!! I'm not sure what the Trews were thinking during the writing of this song...but for me, it makes me think about what's coming after death. Being a Christian, I'm pretty excited about getting to heaven, I'm been told that it's amazing. I think a lot of other believers in "life after death", from various religious faiths, are equally excited to be "on my way with the will to leave this place"...So excited, in fact, that we forget there is a lot of trouble in the world ("I can't say that our world is safe") like war, and human slavery, and abuse, that we all need to help fix. Don't get me wrong, I'm so stoked for heaven, it's just that I now realize that until then, there's work to be done here and now. Yeah, that's just what I got from it - again, probably NOT the Trews were thinking. :P |
Malajube – Pâte Filo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haha. This is a really great song, the first I heard of Maljube's |
Malajube – Montréal -40 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haha, I just translated this song with song probably inaccuarate translating engine (all hail Babelfish - not really) and found out generally what the song is saying.... Much too poor for pills, I however make (can afford?) the whore - I am null and all these things which I ejaculate, I run against the clock (time?) I run but I come back Ô Montreal you are so cold, a polar bear in the bus I take as a starting point worse to enrich me and I love you so much that I hallucinate papapapapadapada I overlook your arrogance you keep the rhythm you put to me in a trance papapapapadapada I have what I deserve and which pleasure Your face on my magazine your prize list of concubines Ô Montreal you are so cold, a polar bear in the bus I take as a starting point worse to enrich me and I love you so much that I hallucinate The cat purrs (whirrs?) and you speak in your sleep and yet me I do not manage to close my eyes Hmmm, interesting....I still think it's amazing. |
Owen Pallett – Many Lives -> 49 MP Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ooh. I like this song, I love the strings in this piece, and quiet, sometimes urgency of Owen's words, and the "mob shout of Son you should!)...hey noseovertail711, what's all this about School of Magic - you've mentioned it a couple times, do you mind explaining? Thnx |
Owen Pallett – If I Were A Carp Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow. Freaky stuff. |
The New Pornographers – The Laws Have Changed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
But what's more important is that it's a great song of course. |
The New Pornographers – The Laws Have Changed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I SO agree with overkill49, and nstewart925 makes a great point. This is a great song, and (I know this sounds shallow, but) if it says something George W. Bush, something NEGATIVE in particular, I'm so interested. Hehe. |
Malajube – Montréal -40 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song - it's catchy, really, even if I can't understand it. From the words I CAN understand, the lyrics seem funny - Montreal, you are so cold, a polar bear in a bus...- or maybe I'm just REALLY bad at French (probably). Well, it doesn't matter - this song ROX my SOX!!!!! |
Bedouin Soundclash – Rude Boy Don’t Cry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey Millie boy man you go ahead Me don’t cry see he’s not showing it Walk it then So, Rude boy don’t cry Suburban boys dance in Cadillac’s Slammin doors to foreign soundtracks Bad DJ So, distort the line Rude boy don’t cry We realize Dry your wet eye Rude boys don’t cry Rude boy don’t cry Dry your wet eye Rude boy don’t cry You realize A few catch words and they throw them back You can’t pay with the shirt on your back, walk it then Rude boy don’t cry Suburban boys surf in Cadillac’s Slammin doors to foreign soundtracks Bad DJ Distort the line Rude boy don’t cry We realize Dry your wet eye Cause rude boys don’t cry Rude boy don’t cry Dry your wet eye Rude boys don’t cry You realize Bad DJ distort the line Rude boy don’t cry You realize Dry your wet eye Rude boys don’t cry Rude boy don’t cry We realize Rude boy don’t cry Rude boys don’t cry Haha, I got it off sing65.com... Well, anyway, I think it could be about peer pressure and the American-isation in another country (I don't which one, and I don't know if it matters). Well, basically, it paints a picture, set in a neighbourhood or culture that is not rich, and only the "rich kids" are seen in those car, with their foreign soundtracks (American music, but also symbolic of their foreign agendas - they are off in another world, caring less ahout their local setting.).... The protagonist of this song is not accepted by this group of rich suburban boys because he "can't pay with the shirt on his back". It's tough being rejected, but of course, "RUDE BOYS DON'T CRY" This song is amazing. |
The Deadly Snakes – Gore Veil Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is an amazing song, as with many songs that I love, the actual meaning of the lyrics don't mean much to me, it's the music and the sound of the voices that does it. But, never mind that, I think the lyrics are referring to always being told throughout life what is important, and all the things you must do, and then realizing that a lot of it doesn't really matter at all. When you feel like everything you've thought was important turned out to be meaningless, why then, you ask, "What am I for?" |
Bedouin Soundclash – Shelter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is someone talking to a friend who is depressed, and kind of out of it... Yup, not really that insightful I guess, but the overall song is really really good. |
Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
makes me cry |
The Trews – Fire Up Ahead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When I first heard this song, I didn't like it, but now I don't mind it. Not my fav. Mebe it's about pressure to do things from people, thinking they know what's best for you. |
Jars of Clay – It Is Well With My Soul Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The Trews – I'm Not Ready To Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It was your grad song??!! Awesome! My grad song was quite as rock'n, unfortunately. Try sentimental and inspring. Nothing wrong with sentimental and inspring of course |
The Trews – Ishmael & Maggie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Colin said that this is a love song. I know, I know, not a real surprise, but it's true. I love this song |
Switchfoot – Daylight to Break Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i really like this song, most especially the beginning. |
Switchfoot – Daylight to Break Lyrics | 18 years ago |
theonethatis, nice interpretation. that would make sense. |
The New Pornographers – The Jessica Numbers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. On another website, it lists the lyrics to be "Let me through, paper and PISSED" instead of "paper in FIST", but this version with the fist makes more sense. ;) |
Buffalo Tom – Rachael Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hey my name is rachael.... |
Mariah Carey – When You Believe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yay |
The New Pornographers – These Are the Fables Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like it too |
D.H.T. – Listen To Your Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"before you tell him goodbye" Also, HIM may not necessarily be a person, it could be a dream or aspiration. I think someone already said that actually. |
Daniel Powter – Free Loop Lyrics | 18 years ago |
favourite Daniel powter song. I also like jimmy gets high |
3 Doors Down – When I'm Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Although the video could be perceived as pro-war, which I sort of disagree with, I still think it's good because it shows how no matter what the occasion or cause, we will always miss loved ones who are away. i agree, it's emotional. |
The New Pornographers – Star Bodies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Maybe they are talking about going into a dream-like state - " ...make our break to our star bodies go..." Star bodies are who they are in this magical place, where they can act on impulse, not thinking of all the things they've been told to do, and leaving those people who have told them to do those things - "There's a shake with the shock and a gift off with them they carry the dust of the failing wisdom " And your sister's there in this dreamland too. Ahh! I don't know. The New Pornographers are just too amazing to figure out. I love the whimsical imagery of this song. |
The Raconteurs – Steady, As She Goes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this song, and I also like the music video of this song. (I hope it's okay that I talk about the video on songmeanings.net?) At first I didn't like it much, because the confusing shaky camera. And although the seemingly random shots of the cows running were kind of interesting, I was weirded out. But the 2nd time I watched it, I really enjoyed it. It was odd and intriguing. I liked Jack White's thrashing about, Brendan Benson's absolute cool (and the hat :P) , Jack Lawrence's dark blank stare, but perhaps most of all, Patrick Keeler's skeptical attitude thoughout the whole video. It's amazing, to see all the "rocking-out" of Jack White and Brendan (not really Jack Lawrence), and then a cut to Patrick's face. Haha , he's almost rolling his eyes! |
The Raconteurs – Store Bought Bones Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ooh, the cd is out? |
The Raconteurs – Store Bought Bones Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ooh, the cd is out? |
The Trews – Poor Ol' Broken Hearted Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hee, i posted this one - just went to some other lyrics site. Anyways, I really love this song, possibly my favourite trews song? I don't know. The sound is awesome, a nice shout-it-out singing song, although shouting out this song might not be the best idea because 1. The Trews sound so good, I wouldn't want to ruin the beauty of it with my voice 2. I never realized this until I read the lyrics, but they're pretty graphic about, umm, sex. So, yeah, it's not always the most appropriate to yell, "When she calls I wag my tail I'm harder than a coffin nail" Uhh, yeah... |
The Trews – Tired Of Waiting Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. My 2nd favourite trews song (1st being poor ol' broken hearted me, which I just added, hopefully it'll be up soon). I like the video too - I agree with mle_love. Anybody know where it was filmed? Antigonish, maybe? |
The Trews – So She's Leaving Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this song. I don't think it has some deep meaning, it's sort of a good song to just sing (even if you don't have a very good voice like me)...Although I'm not sure it's so literal as Musical_Jenny suggests, being out on the road....although it could be, I don't know. I like it anyway. |
Gnarls Barkley – Crazy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a crazy good song. I love the beat. When this song first played at the radio station I most often listen to, a lot of listeners reacted negatively. It's true that it's really different that what is normally played on this radio station, but I hope they keep it, because I absolutely love it. I think it's growing popularity now.. |
The New Pornographers – The Bleeding Heart Show Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I LOVE this song! My favourite NewP song...(although I've only heard this one, Use It, Sing Me Spanish Techno, Jackie Dressed in Cobras and Twin Cinema) Does anybody know what it is they are singing at near the end, after the oohing? underneath the "We have arrived to late to play the bleeding heart show.) Thanks |
