Don Henley – All She Wants To Do Is Dance Lyrics
| 17 years ago

This is political commentary (like about half of Don Henley's solo work) about Americans being concerned with self-gratification when everything's falling apart. It's both amusing and horrible that people think about it as a fun party song. |

Considering when this song was released, it might be political commentary about the US. If it isn't, it's a pretty good pure fantasy song. |

intrigued_punk, I think you have half of it.
Even after eliminating religion and blind faith, you're left with questions about the nature of the world and a search for meaning. The singer has already rejected blind faith and he's still looking. |

I was so surprised when I heard this song; I loved Surge too. You can still get it in a few places in North Georgia, but nowhere else that I've seen. |

Blind Guardian – Valhalla Lyrics

Hazhar has it right. It's about Scandinavia's rejection of its old gods in favor of Christianity, then of its rejection of Christianity (and loss of meaning).
The Dragonlance novels had a similar theme. Everyone rejected the gods and eventually realized that they had no purpose without them. |

Blind Guardian – Welcome To Dying Lyrics

This is about a German folk story in which a man gradually turns into a dragon and takes revenge on the people of a city that did him wrong.
A similar story (likely based on this one) takes place in Mark Rogers' Zorachus series.
Heydrich: It does remind me somewhat of "Little Dragon" Vlad the Impaler, but the above explanation was the one given by one of the band members. Possibly the folk story was inspired by him? |
