Maybe the movie about St. Joan of Arc was 1 hour and 19 minutes long?

I think the reason that so few people have commented on this song is becuase its so cryptic that very few people can actually interpret it, me included.

Tool – Faaip de Oiad Lyrics 18 years ago
It's always going to be difficult trying to pronounce faaip de oaid with text only, but fortunately I don't know either so I'm off the hook in that respect. Find someone who knows how to write using the phonetic alphabet, that'll sort it out.

In Flames – Words Within The Margin Lyrics 18 years ago
I've got an idea of what it may be about, its actually an interesting philosophical concept that has interested me for a while now.
The song seems to describe the infinite possibilities of every outcome, and every possible course of fate spawning an entirely new universe. In this concept, there are as many "parallel universes" as there are choices and occurences ever made in this and every other universe, thereby stretching to pretty much an infinite number.
The lyrics are just poetic illustrations of this point, such as the raindrop moving the position of the leaf slightly. There will then be a universe where the raindrop hit the leaf, and a universe where the raindrop didnt hit the leaf. The "buds abloom on all directions" may be a descroption of the sprawling paths of fate resulting from an occurence, each resulting in its own parellel universe.
In this concept, everything in the universe is therefore a "birth machine", creating new worlds whenever it interacts with its environment, as described in
"In the kinetic energy of a moving fist
lies a birth-machine for a paralell universe"
Anyone agree?

Come on guys! that is not what its about. Although you do make a fair argument. But you can argue for anything really, if you think about it.

In Flames – Coerced Coexistence Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, this song is about confiding to someone about pain which you've hidden away. "A part owner to my pain". This means that now you've told them, its is the burden of both of you.
It could be about the specific pain of not quite fitting in - selling your soul could refer, as ac666 said, to conforming, maybe changing your apparent personality to attempt to fit in with the people you are forced to associate with.
"I fought the world today - postpone my birth again" could mean that the situation, which could involve alot of friction, could be preventing, as I said before, from the real personality from emerging.
The "smile stretched on old trees" could refer to a facade put up by the person that the song is about, who up until confiding in another person, has pretended to be happy whilst being miserable underneath. This misery is described as a "pitiless wanderer". A wanderer, again is someone who does not fit in.
And finally, the chorus, I think in the light of what I have said is pretty self explanatory - a person in this situation just needs some sympathy.
