Oren Lavie – Don't Let Your Hair Grow Too Long Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree. It's like he's stopped seeing her as a person, and more as a symbol or "picture on the wall." |
The Cruxshadows – Wake The White Queen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song? Brilliant. I cannot STOP listening to it. |
Beck – Qué Onda Guero Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, cervaza means beer. |
Azam Ali – The Cold Black Key Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Best Coraline song on the album by far! |
David Usher – Fast Car Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I haven't heard the original, but this song is absolutely amazing and David usher's voice, as usual, is brilliliant and sounds like he's talking right into your ear. "I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money We won't have to drive too far Just across the border and into the city You and I could both get jobs Finally see what it means to be living" Love that. |
The Decemberists – The Chimbley Sweep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I need to read this book. Before, I always thought it had something to do with "Oliver Twist." |
The Decemberists – The Soldiering Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I can see where homosexual tendencies can come into it--but I'm not sure if that's the focus of this song. "But you My brother in arms I'd rather I'd lose my limbs Than let you come to harm" In movies like "Saving Private Ryan," and "Black Hawk Down," we are told that the most important thing abotu wars and soldiers is that soldiers fight wars in order to protect their life and the lives of the men surrounding them. I think ultimately, it deals with camaraderie, and the closeness one feels when they're hiding in the trenches from the enemy. |
David Usher – Devil By My Side Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My favorite line is the last. "Hard when you realize that you'll never have what you're trying to find." The song is so much about life, and it's just gorgeous, the music, the lyrics, his voice! "Believe that we will find a way through all of these things, " I think that line sums up the entire song. He did an interview about War Child America on some show called "The Hour" I think... and they asked him about the issues in society today, and he said that he honestly believed that we would resolve those and that it was just a matter of people not wanting to change. In a society, particularly now, when everything's being turned upside-down and it seems as if the world is going to end, we just need to remember the other generations faced their own calamities and horros and like them, "we will find a way through all of these things." "Believe in hope, Believe in faith" |
David Usher – Final Thoughts And The Last Day On Earth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, David Usher is a known athiest, really for a long time--I think this song shows the scary side of atheism, not just the "cool" side (as nowadays people tend to be atheist because it's a trend or they're too "cool" for religion), and how if this is an ideaology, you need to accept the fear along with the philosophy. "my god left me without one word of warning my god left me waiting is all that i got " Sort of like, faith leaving you... "don't be afraid we're all afraid" -- i love this part. :P |
David Usher – F Train Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't know if anyone's been to New York City before but this song sort of reminds me when I'm waiting at Grand Central for a train or for a friend or whatever---just all the people, and everything going by in a blur. "cause people fade as people always do" "we may still get by" "never ending stream of what you've known so long and long ignored" Just beautiful. One of my favorite David Usher songs. Really realizes the insignificance of ONE person amongst so many people/things around us. |
David Usher – souring Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the first time the chorus plays, you wrote "condede," instead of "concede." |
David Usher – Butterfly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is this a break-up song? Sounds like it. "but i was never enough for you was there ever enouhg for you" |
David Usher – Love Will Save The Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's a fairly simple song, and I KNOW it sounds cliche (mainly because I'm sitting with friends bored and I suddenly started singing it and they're like, "wth?")---but it's so pure and raw like all his music. "come on sell me more of your religion 'cause it's sure to make a change last night god was on the tv screen taking dollars for their pain come on talk about that evolution it's been poisoning my mind" Really defines him as a humanist. He doesn't like organized religion that exploits people's weakness, and doesn't like scientific babble that destroys simple faith. Like he says, he just has "been looking for a saviour." |
David Usher – St Lawrence River Lyrics | 18 years ago |
After the last solid by morning comes "what I wanted winter by morning" and then the end. I love this song, his voice and the lyrics are a brilliant combination to die for. It's such a shame he'd not better known. "i saw on your face such a curious grin as i let go your hand i was desperate to hold you again" |
David Usher – Alone In The Universe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anyone think this sort of has a twisted love theme to it? The lines: "I think we're alone here you and i I think we're alone left wondering why I think we're alone here you and i I think we're alone in the universe tonight" |
Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I heard this song the way many people heard it, off the Garden State Soundtrack, an amazing compilation of music (to complement an amazing movie)! To me, it doesn't really have a complicated meaning. It's about "letting go," just letting go of all emotions, all reserves. Like that scene where Zach Braff screams from atop a construction site. Just letting go of all the pressure and just feeling again. "There's beauty in the breakdown." |
Nickelback – Photograph Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Graduating High School in June. And yeah, I know what you mean (whoever said it) about high school sucking because, believe me, it sucked ass for me, but still... I guess, there's just so much I'll miss. I don't know, it's not something you can explain, and I applaud this song for being able to. "Look at this photograph Every time I do it makes me laugh. How did our eyes get so red, and what the hell is on Joey's head?" I think that's great. There's a picture with me and my best friends from 8th grade in a ridiculous pose and our hair in absolutely ATROCIOUS hairstyles but all the same, looking back, you just have to laugh. "It's hard to say it, Time to say it, Goodbye, goodbye." Think that sums it up perfectly. It's hard to say goodbye, but after a while, you just have to. It's time to let things go; not forget them, but let them go and move on. |
