Paul Dempsey – Ramona Was A Waitress Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's about a guy having an argument with a robot about immortality. The 'Ramona' comes from an actual artificial intelligence project by the same name aimed at making a robot near human and reaching consciousness. Very weird topic, really like the song a lot though, especially the line 'but she don't recognise the song' |
Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
My best friend has been trying to get me into this band for 2 years! After hearing this song a few times now, I'm blown away! I can't stop listening to it! It's so damn good. Anyway, moufouette - you're totally right about 'let's meander at an easy pace' - makes sense and sounds right! Can anyone recommend me similarly sounding Animal Collective songs? |
Blink-182 – Apple Shampoo Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I just randomly decided to listen to this song on youtube after many years... surprise surprise, it's still good! I used to ADORE Blink 182 like, 8 years ago (RE: my thousands of old posts on blink 182 lyrics). I agree with what someone else said, it definately was a mature song for them at the time. It's a fun song |
Arctic Monkeys – Mardy Bum Lyrics | 16 years ago |
holy f this song is so great at describing relationships. it's the cutest song I've ever heard! |
Daniel Johnston – Rock N Roll EGA Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Elwyn - that's what I said. It was just in that one scene. |
Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Haha I just read some of my early posts of this song. Newsflash everyone - IT SUCKS. Anyone who feels they can relate to the song - please know that you're not actually relating to "Simple Plan" the band - just the crappy lyrics they produced which were specifically aimed at you!! And they're making money out of all you suckers |
British India – Council Flat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Totally agree buddy, British India are such a good band!! The lack of comments is probably due to the fact they're Australian. Not totally sure on the song meaning, but it's really awesome! So excited about seeing them at the Big Day Out!! |
The Strokes – Evening Sun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh you're the prettiest, smartest captain of the team I love you more than being 17 Love it! Being 17 is one of the best ages - old enough to really start enjoying life and having fun, but not old enough to be affected by too much negativity in the world. |
Elton John – Your Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
^^ Above poster.. The verse about the eyes is basically like saying he gets lost in her beautiful eyes. It doesn't really matter what colour they are, they're just beautiful. And this song WASN'T written for a man. You've really got to remember than Bernie wrote it for his WIFE. Think of it like Elton John is just the beautiful voice that expresses the emotions and feelings of Bernie Taupin. Even if Elton did write it, you can interpret it however you like. Like my boyfriend used to say it was like us. And how I sang the chorus to my little baby when he was born. (Yes I know, I'm a big lamo.) This song is so ridiculously beautiful. |
Elton John – Rocket Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's clearly not about Elton being secretive about his homosexuality ("I'm not the man they think I am at all"). Um, everyone knows Elton is gay - it's not secret. Just because he is gay, it doesn't mean all his songs are about his homosexuality. Are all straight peoples' songs about being straight? No. Furthermore, he doesn't write the songs. It's not like Bernie is going to write a homosexual song and make Elton sing. LASTLY.. People should stop going on like "CLEARLY it's about this.." It's obviously not clear. Artists will often publicly state the meaning of a song, and then publicly state another meaning to the exact same song. Songs have numerous meanings and backgrounds. |
Elton John – I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is my favourite Elton John. The madison square garden concert came on, and I Was so annoyed that Mary J. Blige sung most of it. I was watching it to see ELTON sing, not her. But this song is awesome; it's so simple, yet effectively summarises the feeling of being in love and away from that person. Wait on me girl Cry in the night if it helps But more than ever I simply love you More than I love life itself These lyrics are wrong. It's: "Above all else, I simply love you, more than I love life itself". That's my favourite line, as well a: "And I guess that's why they call it the blues Time on my hands could be time spent with you". (For me) It reminds me of having a fight with your boyfriend and walking out but realising you'd rather be spending the time with them. |
Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I doubt it's written from Taupin to Elton. It is pretty clear it's basically about city life and in particular, the industry being quite harsh where people don't treat you right and it's hard to find your real worth when people just want to make a quick buck out of you. |
Elton John – Daniel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ed Clarke, do you have no respect? Noone is pretending to care. It's a genuine emotion to feel for the people who gave their lives so we could live in peace. Quite simply, you're an ignorant, selfish idiot who should keep quiet. As to the song.. Someone said they're the best lyrics ever. I disagree. I really appreciate the meaning behind the song, but the lyrics are actually very simply, in my opinion. (Very straightforward) Basically, I think the song is about Daniel who has died. Because Daniel thinks Spain is "the best place that he's ever seen", that is where the brother imagines him being in heaven, if that makes sense. (The first verse with Daniel leaving on a plane to Spain). I LOVE this song. |
Elton John – Circle of Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
God some people are stupid. "Shame about the artist"? Shame about YOU coming in here and making moronic comments. I can't believe idiotic little kids who think that because an artist is gay, they're a disappointment. If the first poster ever comes back to read this, please know that you are a complete idiot. |
Elton John – Candle In The Wind '97 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Obviously he did not do this for money or a career boost. As someone said, they were close. He wanted to do something special. |
Elton John – Candle In The Wind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh I love Elton but I'm only really just getting into him a lot now.. I've never looked up the lyrics before so didn't realise it was about Marylin. It's such a respectful song. |
Elton John – Can You Feel The Love Tonight? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You people are stupid. werumm is obviously trying to stir you up. Reading the lyrics makes me want to go watch the Lion King again. |
The Killers – When You Were Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I really like this song.. but I agree with what someone else said in that they tried too hard to make it epic. When their album was coming out they were quoted being quite arrogant about it and it put me off. They're too sure of themselves and their future success. But anyway, as to the song.. I don't think "he doesn't look a thing like Jesus" is literally about his appearance. Also.. he says "we" a couple of times.. "Can we climb this mountain I don't know Higher now than ever before I know we can make it if we take it slow Let's take it easy Easy now, watch it go We're burning down the highway skyline" Is he the beautiful boy? |
The Libertines – Tell The King Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can't believe noone has commented on this song!! Definately the best Libertines song. I really can't work out exactly what it's about however.. |
R.E.M. – Everybody Hurts Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song never really meant much to me, I heard it on the radio a lot and that was it. And now, just this morning, I was feeling absolutely shit. Everything is wrong right now, and this morning it really hit me and I wanted to die. So I had a cigarette and cried and went outside and put on the TV and then this video came on nearly straight away. It's such a beautiful beautiful song. It really reminds you that things will get better. I'm still sad, but that song just does wonders. |
Machine Gun Fellatio – Unsent Letter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. What's it about? |
Pearl Jam – Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so sad. Again, I think it's about a past love who moved on from the small town. Maybe from when the woman was much younger. She's now very old, and she runs into this past flame again. She's still in the same spot as when he left. My god its been so long. Never dreamed you'd return. But now here you are and here I am. Hearts and thoughts they fade away. This past.. She's so overwhelmingly happy he's back. She never thought she'd see his face again but now he is back and they're two totally different people. Hence, 'hearts and thoughts they fade away". |
Pearl Jam – Daughter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
by horse31 on 01-11-2005 @ 03:58:12 PM is the 'she holds the hand that holds her down' lyric original to this song? if so it is truly inspired Holding the hand that holds you down is a pretty common face. Eddie just incorporated it into his song. Anyway, I still don't really know what "the picture kept will remind me" means; in terms of the dyslexia theory. I can understand the daughter feeling she's not good enough to be called her mother's daughter.. but I don't understand the picture bit. |
Missy Higgins – Ten days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is definately about her being away from her loved one. It's such a gorgeous song. She's so good, I seem to be able to relate to all her songs right now. |
Missy Higgins – The Special Two Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. I believe she cheated on him. I remember someone old once said to me: “lies will lock you up with truth the only key.” But I was comfortable and warm inside my shell, and couldn’t see this place would soon become my hell. So is it better to tell and hurt or lie to save their face? Well I guess the answer is don’t do it in the first place. This part made it clear to me that it was about her being unfaithful. I know I’m not deserving of your trust from you right now, but if by chance you change your mind you know I will not let you down This part also - she doesn't deserve his trust. I really like this song a lot. For a while though, I couldn't listen to it. It was playing on the radio shortly after my boyfriend broke up with me because I cheated on him and he found out.. I cried so much and then I couldn't listen to it anymore. I actually really like her accent too. A lot of people think it's way too yob.. but I think she's great. |
Pearl Jam – Better Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
she lies and says she's in love with him she dreams in colour, she dreams in red I think the "she dreams in colour" bit is her rational side. He probably provides for her, works, brings in the money. It's a *happy*, normal life. Even though she knows she doesn't love him, it's everything she should want. ie, all the colours. "She dreams in red" symbolises her knowing she doesn't really love him, so she dreams of love. In reference to the person who didn't understand why she couldn't find a better man.. It's pretty much because he's so traditionally *perfect* for her. He brings in the money, gives her a home, and everything seems fine on the surface. She just doesn't love him. My thoughts anyway. |
Pearl Jam – Untitled Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so so pretty. I always skipped it for so long. Then I started listening to it recently. It made me cry when I actually say down and listened to it. I think it's one of the sweetest songs I've ever heard. "Oh with you, I could never be alone" |
Pearl Jam – Untitled Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think they'd be the same versions, you just might have some of the lyrics messed up. Here's the lyrics: Got a car I got some gas Oh, let's get out of here Get out of here fast Oh, everyone's confused So I stay in my room If I go, I don't want to go alone I hope you get this message Oh, you're not home I could be there in 10 minutes or so Oh, I got my things We'll make it up as we go along Oh, with you, I could never be alone Never be alone. |
Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
by Spot_on_the_rug on 03-28-2005 @ 01:49:56 AM Not meaning to be disrespectful, but *you* complain about *him* being whiny when *you're* on this site discussing a band you *don't even like.* We all apreciate your oppinion , but if you don't like the song, then there couldn't have been a very logical reason for you to be here except to complain about the song and slam the band. So does this make you a hypocrite? In response; No, I am not being hypocritical as I am not making a song out of my complaints, if you want to call them that. I came onto an internet site to look at lyrics (I actually came to look at these lyrics I think) and decided to comment on a song which is utter shit. Which, after all, is the point of this website. True? Furthermore, I didn't merely complain that he was whiney, I said he was a 25 year old whiner. Myself, on the other hand, am an 18 year old girl. As stated in my previous post, teenagers are the ones who can get away with whining and bitching. Not grown men. His lyrics honestly sound like they were written by someone of your age. (Directed at Spot_on_the_rug) Lastly, I didn't come here to slam the band. Read my post, and you'll see I said their previous songs were ok and bearable. |
The Strokes – Between Love And Hate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Julian is so mean in this song! One of my favourites though |
Green Day – Scattered Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Green Day used to be so good. This was my favourite song off Nimrod. Open the past and present and the future too It's all I've got and I'm giving it to you I like this part. It's really how you feel when you love someone, you just want to give yourself to them, because it's all you have to offer. If you got no one and I got no place to go Would it be alright? Could it be alright? This part is my absolute favourite. It's so simple and sweet and he makes it seem like pure convenience, when clearly it's more. |
Green Day – Redundant Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oohhh this song is so sweet. It's definately one of my favourite Green Day songs. When you love someone you feel that saying 'I love you' should be adequate enough to fix any problem but when you really really fuck up it doesn't fix a thing. He probably cheated on her. |
Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I really really really hate this song. It makes me really mad. I used to really like Green Day; around 6 years ago or so. I really just don't like this whiney boring stuff. |
Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
meaningful* |
Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I figure the guy wrote this song after a fight with his mum because he didn't want to do the dishes. Or maybe it was him not wanting to do his homework. Did someone say this guy was 25? Shouldn't he be writing about something a bit more meaningfall? Christ, he's old enough to be married with kids and he's still whining about the same things that angsty bratty little teens whine about. I mean, I really don't mind the first two songs - Addicted and I'd Do Anything. They were cute and bearable. But this shit is just getting old. Please stop whining. It's just giving 15 year old girls an excuse to be brats. Life's really not that hard. |
Millencolin – Penguins & Polarbears Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song really reminds me of my boyfriend and I. He drives me crazy and I feel like we're always competing to have power over the other. |
Blink-182 – Dammit Lyrics | 21 years ago |
hey dude shutup. you're not even talking about the song.... which is the point of this page. they're not trying to be emo or punk or pop. theyre just playing music that people like and can relate to. i dont care what genre they are or if they did sell out or didnt or whatever. i loved them bak from cheshire cat, and i love them up to toypaj. anyways... i think this is one of the best songs of all time. who the hell cant relate to it? i kinda think its a little bit depressing to me in a way tho... just the chorus.. because its so goddamn true.. but oh well this is the best song of all time (in my opinion) |
New Found Glory – Hit Or Miss Lyrics | 21 years ago |
yep one of their best songs |
New Found Glory – My Solution Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i never used to like this song, but i like it now i LOVE jordan's voice in this song. i loved that era... where his voice sounded like this!! |
New Found Glory – Better Off Dead Lyrics | 21 years ago |
you could be right |
New Found Glory – (Everything I Do) I Do It for You (Bryan Adams cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i love this song!!!!!!!! its so..... i dunno.. no words can define it the original is also awesome.. but i think this ones betta |
Puddle of Mudd – Blurry Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song is excellent the lyrics are just so sad.. "everything's so blurry.. and everyone's so fake.." i love that line.. its an awesome song... i love it! |
Rhubarb – Exerciser Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i love this song! its awesome as!! unlike the rest of theirs... but anyway i love the part where he goes "and i wanna know if im growing old from anything.." as in... he doesnt drink, smoke, laugh at dirty jokes etc. hes too innocent. hes like an old person |
Blink-182 – Untitled Lyrics | 21 years ago |
secondly, i'd also like to say that anyone can relate to blink's songs. just because tom may be singing to a girl... the song can be interpreted in any way, girls and guys all experience generally the same feelings after a break up or whatever. how about songs like dammit? its about growing up. what, girls can't relate to that? how about lemmings. its about losing old friends... growing up... moving on. oh of course, girls never lose friends or any of that, right?? how about the song carousel?? ANYONE can relate don't be so damned ignorant. |
Blink-182 – Untitled Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ahh!! what an arrogant comment!!! you are so sexist!! i am a girl, and i dont like blink because they're 'hot'. i loved blink 182 when i hardly even knew what they looked like (back when i bought dude ranch when it came out.. when i was like, ELEVEN) i bought the album.. loved the album.. and just saw them on the cover of that album. personally, they looked pretty young and not so good back in those days. and i was only eleven, i was hardly even into guys that much. so please, don't give me this bullshit that chicks liking blink are ruining them. |
Blink-182 – The Rock Show Lyrics | 21 years ago |
oh yes. i have one more comment for you. i've seen that you love NOFX. well, blink 182 did a cover of their song 'the longest line'. whether the cover is shit or not is not the issue. NOFX had to SELL some of the rights to that song to blink 182. just thought you'd like to know also... in your screen name. out of curiousity, id like to know why it is worldwidepunk 182...? whyd u pick the number 182? just curious :) |
Blink-182 – The Rock Show Lyrics | 21 years ago |
okay. first all, you said that because blink is on mtv, it means they sold out and are poppy shit. but you said because afi is on mtv, they didnt sellout. how does that work? secondly, you say, and i quote "they used to be good but then they released enema of the state". MANY times have i read your ignorant posts, saying that blink 182 have absolutely NO talent. if they used to be good, wouldn't that equate to talent? hey, maybe i'm wrong. thirdly, you say you "dont care what is written down there for genra (its spelt genre) as long as it sounds good." if this is true, why do you care what genre lin 182 is? seriously. then you said "of cours eim gonna get pissed if yu call them punk" (it may be advisable you take a course in typing). Not ONCE have i said blink are punk.. or pop.. or anything else for that matter. once again, I DO NOT CARE WHAT GENRE THEY'RE IN. can you understand that? now, you say you have more tolerance than me? do you even know what tolerance is? what, with your just-turned-14 level of knowledge, i'd assume you'd know at least that much..? again, i could be wrong. tolerance means to be patient and FAIR towards those whose OPINIONS differ from your own. MANY times i've seen you type that all blink 182 fans 'suck'. and i think once you said 'fuck you all'. please explain to me how this is tolerance.. please? i have tolerance. i personally don't care what music people like, be it rap.. rock.. punk.. or even fucking britney spears. its their choice. just because i may not like it does not mean they're talentless and 'suck'. with the vast array of people having so many differing tastes, their is a GREAT need for tolerance. btw, why will you see me at the warped tour. |
Blink-182 – Shut Up Lyrics | 21 years ago |
what the fuck are you on about? i never said ANYTHING about their bass tabs or whatever. i wasnt even directly referring to blink 182 when i said "Just because YOU don't like a band, dosent mean they suck". why don't you try reading what i wrote. i was saying, people are different, people have different tastes. JUST BECOS U DON'T LIKE A BAND DOESNT MEAN THEY ARE SHIT!! that is your opinion!!! im saying you need to have some respect for other peoples opinions, whether they like rap.. rock.. punk.. or even fucken britney spears. its their choice.. if they like that music, its their right to. it does not mean that band/artist sucks, it means you have different taste to them. i dont like some of the bands you've mentioned, but that, by no means, is saying they 'suck'. its saying i dont like that style, and thats fine but you dont see me going to their lyrics part and saying how shit they are!! i have tolerance of others; you don't do you finally understand my point??? i really dont care if blinks bass tabs are simple, maybe they are? but i still like the music, whether it is punk or pop or whether its simply and basic. it has meaning to me, it sounds good. just deal with it, ok?we have different opinions... that can only be expected so just settle the fuck down, and go away |
Blink-182 – First Date Lyrics | 21 years ago |
fuck i dont care if u keep writing posts actually cause you have no valid arguments to bring up like, i always get in arguments with people about this kinda thing, but most of them are intellectual and have some good points... while i may disagree... they still have valid points. you simply say they 'suck' and are pop.... oka so you think their pop. why do you keep saying it? we've heard your opinion on their genre... we understand. so calm down and talk about something new. im not contesting you about their genre. i really dont care what their genre is... but how can you honestly say they have NO talent whatsoever. millions of people love their music... they must have an ounce of talent, at least. but anyway, i think they have a hell of a lot of talent. i love their music... and you dont, and thats fine. just get over it |
New Found Glory – Scraped Knees Lyrics | 21 years ago |
no its not its perfect i think this song, along with sometimes by blink 182, are two of my fave songs in this kinda genre... like, the fast paced punk genre.. if taht makes any sense well my point is this love is awesome as hell |
