One of my all time favorites! Love the lyrics, love the tune, LOVE Richie's guitar work! I'm not sure of the meaning but I don't think he's talking about a small town. Note the line "that's just one side of the story in the two story town". And, I'd like to know if the words are actually "same old ship" or "same old shit". Personally, I like shit but everytime I see this song in print it contains the word ship.
