Much could be said about this song and, yes, I think it as an ode to Nature and the simple moments of life -- as are many other Van songs. While the Jelly Roll Morton is a good guess -- the reality is that Jelly Roll is a classic blues reference to getting, well, laid! Jelly. Roll. No further explanation necessary! I do have to say that when my friends and I first heard the song we wondered why he was so jazzed up by a donut!! :-)
