All Summer Long Lyrics
Sittin' in my car outside your house
(Sittin' in my car outside your house)
'Member when you spilled coke all over you blouse
T-shirts, cut-offs, and a pair of thongs
(T-shirts, cut-offs, and a pair of thongs)
We've been having fun all summer long
(All summer long you've been with me)
I can't see enough of you
(All summer long we've both been free)
Won't be long til summer time is through
(Summer time is through)
Not for us now
Miniature golf and Hondas in the hills
(Miniature golf and Hondas in the hills)
When we rode the horse we got some thrills
Every now and the we hear our song
(Every now and the we hear our song)
We've been having fun all summer long
Won't be long til summer time is through
(Summer time is through)
Not for us now
Every now and the we hear our song
(Every now and the we hear our song)
We've been having fun all summer long
We've been having fun all summer long
(We've been having fun all summer long)
We've been having fun all summer long
(We've been having fun all summer long)
We've been having fun all summer long

Fun facts: In 1964 when the song was released, Honda had become the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles, and "thongs" were what are now called "flip flops" and not ass-revealing swimwear. I'm guessing that the inclusion of these items in the lyric were Mike Love's main contribution. Great song.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It means so much in so many ways. I didn't grow up in the 60s, but this song captures such a powerful spirit of the innocent life of the early/mid 60s. A time when America was truly American. The song is about a young romance in the summer. The guy in the song thinks back on all of the good times he had with his girlfriend during that summer, and how he is saddened that summer is ending, possibly meaning his relationship with this girl is also ending. I think that even today, all of us can relate to this innocent love that we once had, and how it holds such a special place in us, even if it wasn't lasting. And like I said, the way that this song incorporates this powerful feeling of the 60s in addition to the timeless meaning behind first love, just makes this song so awesome. And I also have to add this song fit so perfectly at the end of the movie "American Graffiti". Just the way it was placed at the end after you learn of the fates of the cast after their last night together as friends in the summer of 1962. It just gives ya goosebumps.
Total appreciation for the past - young fun in the summer. It's what the beach boys do best.
what the fuck,.........no comments,
This is like one of the best songs ever
@jpj rocks Yet that... is your contribution!

I love this song. I love summer. I love The Beach Boys. This song reminds me of summer, most definitly.
this is the song to escape to the beach
This song to me really shows how things inevitably change at the end of the summer...in my opinion, its about a summer fling, and the singer really doesn't want it to end, but knows that it will...I recently started "talking" to a new woman after a year of doubting I would ever date again...she and I have been out twice, and I want to think that maybe things will progress out of the friends zone...but at the same time, I dunno.
It's just beautiful.
I totally agree that this is an all-time classic, but I personally don't care for it too much because I don't want to hear about how the summer's and its fun will be over before we know it... I like the proverbial "endless summer" advocated by so many other of the great Beach Boys songs.
