It's automatic
I never really had it, the love that grows in time.
Apophatic.
Cataphatic.
She's really not the tragic kind.
She's just waiting for love, but she hasn't got the time.
Maybe someday she's complain...
Don't say it to me now.
Shut up now.
Love will only break your heart.
Don't say it to me now.
Shut up now.
We were broken from the start.
It's automatic

Apophatic.

Maybe someday she's complain...

This song is actually about my girlfriend and I at the time. We liked one another a lot, and for kids we thought it was love. But I didn't have the capacity for true love at the time. My girlfriend wasn't dramatic or unusual - quite normal. Definitely not the tragic kind, but she was searching, waiting for a lifelong love. And I wasn't the guy, and she hadn't a clue (neither of us did tbh). But when she started figuring things out... Loving me would only break her heart, because I wouldn't be able to love her back in the way she needed. We were broken from the start.
Great song to sum up that relationship. The song appealed to me at the time, but only in hindsight do I see how perfectly it captured that young almost love.

why does this song sound like something i heard in the early 90's? ahh! :P anyway apophatic and cataphatic aren't words, are they? hmm.
Cata - Down Phatic - of, relating to, or being speech used for social or emotive purposes rather than for communicating information Apo - Away from, detached, seperate from Not words, but they could be
Actually, they are real words. Mike Garrigan wrote the song after a theology class he had in college. The professor used these words. Apophatic describes things in terms of how they are, and catophatic describes things in terms of how they are not. Example: "love is good" is using apophatic predication, while "love is not bad" is using catophatic predication. Hope this helps!
I know how you feel, glows in the dark. Everytime I hear this song I feel like I've heard it before, but I just can't put my thumb on it!
