its about a conflicted relationship. she's trying to convince herself to stay away from this person that she hates with all her heart, but she can't stay away. i love it. i love how she sets herself up for confusion.

I get the impression that this is about being tossed into an uncomfortable situation with someone you either don't know or don't necessarily like, but have to rely on, alternating between loving them for keeping you alive and hating them. The "What? How can you be so sure?" line make me think that she wakes up somewhere with a person and they know what's happening, but she doesn't. The last lines make me think that there's a certain giving up "Dive in the water's great" so the person is growing on her.
I see this as someone who's falling in love with someone she didn't want to fall in love with, and she can't believe it. It could even be like those romantic comedies where initially she can't stand the guy, but somehow she's so inexplicably attracted to him.
How can he be so sure they love each other? It can't be that easy, she hates him. But she loves him. She has to keep calm, and she has to realise why she feels so jealous when she sees him with other women.
This song makes me thing of the movie Cube seriously this explaines how they feel perfectly having to depend on someone you don't trust but you cant let them know.

My take on the song? I think she's in a relationship with someone troubled. He does crazy things sometimes, start fights, accuse people of stuff, cause trouble and she's always there, trying to save him from himself.

He drives her crazy but he needs her to protect him. She hates him sometime but she loves him because he needs her.
When I first heard this song, I immediately thought of my sister and her bipolar boyfriend. They go to clubs and he does drugs and drinks and starts fights with people and she stays straight never drinks never does drugs and she tries to talk sense into him and tries to stop him from fighting and doing destructive things. But she can't leave him because he's so sweet and sort of helpless and kind hearted and a totally different person when he's not high, drunk or not having a manic stage. This song could've been written for her.
