The Desperation's Gone Lyrics
Trip down the stairs into hell
Cathay de I miss your smell
A mixture of puke, beer, stale piss
Fuck, sweat, and fear
Adrenaline addicted, the blood leak
From my head kinda concerned my friends
But at the time it felt so right
The music blaring on, now that desperation's gone
(The song is same) The desperation's gone
Turn, tune the knob k-go
Some alternal radio
Strategic marketing hype, media, stereotype
Has our music been castrated? Yes
To you it may sound good
To me it sounds all wrong
The notes and chords sound similar
The same forbidden beat, but
The desperation's gone (the song's the same)
But the desperation's gone
Cathay de I miss your smell
A mixture of puke, beer, stale piss
Fuck, sweat, and fear
Adrenaline addicted, the blood leak
From my head kinda concerned my friends
But at the time it felt so right
The music blaring on, now that desperation's gone
(The song is same) The desperation's gone
Some alternal radio
Strategic marketing hype, media, stereotype
Has our music been castrated? Yes
To you it may sound good
To me it sounds all wrong
The notes and chords sound similar
The same forbidden beat, but
The desperation's gone (the song's the same)
But the desperation's gone

The title of this one sums it up, Its just about how although nofx are making the same music as they always have and it sounds the same as it always has the desperation that they used to have isnt there anymore
..the songs the same, but the desperations gone...
probably due to the fact that like they are really big now and most probably all pretty rich and dont have as many problems as they did back in the day.Theres another song on the shoes with a very similar meaning called all outta angst and kinda in quart in session to
cathay de is a club where nofx played there first show
welcome to my world.......
It talks about NOFX's early years at the start. Then it says that there music sounds the same and there's not enuogh variaty in their music.
as with most poltico-punk bands out there I am quite certain they began their band thinking they could change the world and that what was eating up their minds had to be said .. they were desperate to try and make a chanage as opposed to sitting around taking the shit they were being served .. a life of not knowing what was next, a life desperate to be eaten by the vitality of youth .. now they are businessmen .. now they are accomplished and they haven't really changed the world at all .. they are making music to continue their jobs .. there is no desperation behind the music .. they are now a part of the world they probably once hated (to a certain degree) ..
probably one of NOFX's best songs EVER
I don't know if its coincidence or not but the line 'To you it may sound good To me it sounds all wrong' that's nearly the same as a line from Kids of the K-Hole 'To you it may sound good, it may sound oh so wrong'. Don't know if there's a link there or just pure chance...
The desperation is gone, why?
The new bands are playing "punk rock" with no "punk reason" (the song is the same, the same forbidden beat, the notes and chords sound similar) To some people it is nice (To you it may sound good), but the whom are listening punk bands to listen to the "punk reasons and concerns" sounds not good (to me it sounds all wrong).
The new bands are playing something similar to punk rock, but it has no punk essence, only some black clothes, emo hair, "cute rich adolescents, wearing something someone wanna sell more, making teenage girls scream in desperated platonic love and buy some brand new Abercrombie shirts and Nike colored footwear". (Strategic Marketing Hype, Media, Stereotype)
The desperation about politics, punk essence and all the "fight" is gone.
