with the way he switches his voice i get the impression of two different sides, good and bad
Yeah, it's double sided. On one hand, when it's 'light', he's cool and just doing his thing. But when people fuck with him and it gets 'dark' his other side comes out.
Wrong: "Grips is touchy, so don't make me wait " I thought that the chorus line was "Ribs is touching, so don't make me wait" like he is starving...plus, that fits in better with the whole "stop being greedy or I'm going to steal your food to eat" motif. Also, I don't think it is "If you curse, it gets worse." I think it is "The curse gets worse as time goes by." (like, DMX is cursed with a bipolar personality exacerbated by drug use, not that his moral decline began when he started cussing.) Excellent song about poverty, desperation, violence, and a personality that oscelates between night and day. DMX is one of the most psychologically profound rappers I've ever heard.
Agree with above. I think its "ribs is touching" as well. Also it should be "Will I, kill, I think death is wrong" instead of "Will I, can i think death is wrong" in the first verse
