Jenny Says Lyrics

I got no reason for the thngs I fear
the things that plague me whenn I see and hear
a dime's a nickel and a nickel's none
I'll throw myself into the Sunday sun

A summer Sunday when you went insane
You said you're going and I said I came
I'm throwing oranges in an apple cart
The ties that bind are tearing me apart

Jenny says turn off the radio
Jenny says turn off the lights
Jenny says turn off the video
You beat yourself up to bring yourself down

Let it go, let it go, let it go,
Let it go, let it go, let it go
When the world is coming down on me
I let it go!

I got no reason for the things I say
she turned toward me then she turned away
There's lots of forces in a modern world
That take their toll upon a modern girl

I got no reason for the things I fear
the things that plague me when I see and hear
I'll press my finger on an itchy trigger
What once was small right now is so much bigger

I got no reason for the things I do
the dealer deals and then the dealer's screwed
You throw your cards upon a playing table
my name i sCain and I am now unable

REPEAT CHORUS

You beat yourself up 'cause you LOVE it

Life is for living!

Well, since no one has a meaning to the song, I guess I will go first. The title has nothing to do with the meaning; rather the song is just about how hard life is if we choose to make it that way. Or let it be that way. 20 percent of life is what happens to you; the other 80 percent is how you deal with it.

Thank you penguinjeff , I just got enlightened to this song a short time ago and came here looking to see if I could find a reason here why this song is really growing on me. I don't know why, but was almost feeling like just quitting on life (not totally, just like, sigh) anyways, my friend i was IM'ing with at that time had thrown out this song as a possible karaoke pick. So I qued it up on my pc and looked up the lyrics and was just almost locked on the screen as i listened to the song and read the lyrics. I felt like I wasn't alone for a brief moment. I know it probably doesn't make sense, I'm not doing a good job of wording things properly. But I digress, the song just totally made me a bit happy. Because like I wrote before, I was feeling like crap on life and this song changed that for me. If at least for a moment. lol

I also apologize for not being able to add a meaning to the song, but I'll need a bit more time to put my answer together for that. I'm sorry.

@Snowdog2112Rob Your comment makes perfect sense to me. I personally believe art is always up for interpretation.

I first heard this song briefly on the show Daria, I've had a thing for it since then. Basically the general sound of the song has me intrigued, and I'm thinking penguinjeff's interpretation of it sounds reasonably right. I'm too tired to make my own however.

Snowdog2112Rob, you make total sense. :)

This was the first Cowboy Mouth song a former friend introduced me to, and I loved it. I was hooked from the start. The song seems to be about letting go of your fears - even for a little while - and enjoying life.
