Moth in the Incubator Lyrics

Something in you, it jitters like a moth
And I see that your arms are out to God
And oh, they kill you when they talk
It makes a mountain peak seem little when it's not

Your incubator is so tight
Your incubator is so tight
I've been born before, I'm pretty used to it
Brain-dead is always all there is

So embryonic it's all right
So embryonic it's all right
I've been born before, I'm getting used to it
Brain-dead is how it always ends

He appears to be: ... ... talking about being born again... the first verse though he describes "Something in you, it jitters like a moth" and who knows what that means and then "And I see that your arms are out to God" -- I thought it said "And I see that your arms are out to cut", but I could be wrong. Either way, it sounds like he's describing something malevolent with a moth stuck in it. "And oh, they kill you when they talk" and this bast*rd thing is gossipy and dick headish too "It makes a mountain peak seem little when it's not " and he's such an enormous dick, this guy with the moth in em and the sharp arms, that it makes a mountain seem SMALL cause he's such a BIG dick.

Then says your incubator is so tight, a passing vaginal reference, and then refers to being born again, apparently at the point where one is not quite born and is thinking about all the times they've done it before; at this stage of the rebirth game he's also already assessed the tightness of the incubator.

However, he knows that brain dead is how it always ENDs.

To me it kind of seems like he's talking about cloning, from the point of view of the souls that enter clones while they are being incubated maybe? but everytime they become born, as in the embryionic process begins, they get killed by the scientists and never get a taste of being able to think (god or whatever's gift to humans), thus they are always brain-dead... sucks to be them

Most of the lyrics seem to be knocking evangelical Christianity as contrived and nonsensical. I could definitely be wrong though.

It is definitely about sex:

"Something in you, it jitters like a moth", they are probably lying on top of each other and he can feel her heart beating fast.

"And I see that your arms are out to God", her hands are raised up in the air

"And oh, they kill you when they talk It makes a mountain peak seem little when it's not", it killers her when she sees people talking about them being together, it's making a mountain out of a mole hill.

"Your incubator is so tight Your incubator is so tight I've been born before, I'm pretty used to it Brain-dead is always all there is", and this is clearly talking about her vagina and how he's used to seeing them because he saw one when he was born. I've heard that when a man orgasms his brain becomes clear of thoughts for a few moments, hence braindead.

Anyway, the rest of the song follows this pattern.

Wayne said, in a concert in 1995,"one day I was sitting in my bedroom at my house and I heard what I thought was an ambulance coming up the street. Like any curious person I ran to the window to look out and see what was going on. As I got there I discovered that it wasn't an ambulance at all. It was just a very clunky but loud ice cream truck coming up the street. And as I was looking out the window there was this bug crawling down the window there real slow and all this stuff came to my mind" lol

awesome

btw..don't try and make sense out of flaming lips songs lol just don't

It starts as a love song to some person. Most likely a female as she has an incubator. The song makes me think of my sweetie, but he isn't, but it still fits.

“Something in you, it jitters like a moth” is just a description of a this person who is a bit jittery and jumpy, a bit uncomfortable in this world maybe.

“And I see that your arms are out to God” - this person's figurative arms are reaching out to god. Not the angry old vengeful cosmic Santa Claus in the sky god, but the real and bigger god that is made up of everyone and everything in all possible times and worlds. That god. So this is a “spiritual” (for want of a better term) person he is singing to.

Unfortunately for this person “they kill you when they talk. It makes a mountain peak seem little when it's not” . The mainstream world doesn't get this god stuff they are so into. They try to make the the big mountain (god) seem insignificant by a bunch of stupid hurtful talk saying it is all just a bunch of drug induced hippie type craziness and get thee to a proper church.

“Your incubator is so tight Your incubator is so tight” - they have sex and it feels really good. So there.

“I've been born before, I'm getting used to it Brain-dead is always ends” etc. etc. etc. is plain old garden variety reincarnation. But with practice it isn't such a bad deal, you get used to it.
