Be My Head Lyrics

You can be my head
Oh, I really need one
Because it's used all its better days
You can be my head
Because I've ruined this one
Blasting holes where it used to be

And if it's not a big thing
You could swap or lend me
You should stop and ask me

Be my head, and I'll be yours
Be my head, and I'll be yours

You can be my head
Oh, they've eaten this one
Putting swirls in this giant hole
You can be my head
Because I can't afford to buy one
Seeking stars in its other side

And if it's not a big thing
You could swap or lend me
You should stop and ask me

Be my head, and I'll be yours
Be my head, and I'll be yours
Won't you be my head, and I'll be yours
Be my head, and I'll be yours
Be my head, and I'll be yours
Be my head, and I'll be yours

I love this song. I guess what it means to me is like with "Be my head, and I'll be yours" Is it's saying if you let me be reliant on you, you can rely on me.

I agree wholeheartedly with remme on this one.

i dunno guys. as a former user of hard drugs, i can tell the asperity of abilities before and after my year long+ binge. He's lamenting that he's destroyed his brain. I've done the same thing. That's one of the reasons I really like this track.

Man, I really feel him. I agree with Whiffet, it's definitely about drugs. I've put holes in my brain and I wish I could swap it with someone else's.

What are the chances that everyone here is right? I mean, is it possible that the message is something along the lines of "I've ruined my brain and not only may I trade you for yours, but could I also rely on you in the future, given how you've helped me now?" Maybe it's a stretch or maybe I'm being too objective, but I think it can have both meanings. Even if much of the phrasing ("blasting holes", "seeking stars") suggests drug use, the idea of supporting someone does fit.

i have been sing this song non-stop since i heard it for the first time yesterday. i love it. i do think that it's both a lamenting of destroying your brain through to drugs- and reaching out for someone you love and respect to support you and help you "think through" life. it's honest and so humane like most flaming lips songs. it's a song about true friendship.

though there may be other possible meanings for a song like this, there is great doubt in my mind that wayne Coyne of the flaming lips would be going for them. the single most believable idea for a song like this (in knowing the flaming lips) would be a reference to fucking up his (or someone else's) head with drugs. having an earlier release known as, finally-the punks are taking acid, it isn't an uncommon concept for the band.... not to mention, the band as a fine sence of humor and often write songs with little thought as to what they really mean.

Hm. Who wrote this song? If it's Wayne, I'd say this song isn't about drugs. According to him on Fearless Freaks, he wasn't a big druggie. I'm sure they all have partaken at one point or another, but that doesn't mean it's about drugs. Wayne just writes weird songs anyway. :D I'm agreeing with remme on this one.

he used to deal and he liked acid he said hed still do it if you could go to work normal the next morning you dont need to be a huge druggie to write a song on drugs

uhmmm, he did do acid, but he hated it...

this song is about both love and drugs and stupidity.
