I think he says cretin not because of adults' views on punks, but because they don't care about 'mature' or 'intellectual' stuff, they just care about the music.

I think its about them paying some sort of tribute to the fans... 1234 CRETINS WANNA HOP SOME MORE! Perhaps they were trying to get something goin like the ICP, they call their fans Juggalos. Maybe the Ramones decided they wanted to call us cretins for a while

This is one of the Ramones' best songs, probably my favorite... Ultimate punk rock anthem.

Like brainwashedbyusa said, this song was used in SLC Punk. I believe during the part where the rednecks break up the punk party, but I'm not 100%. I haven't seen that movie in quite awhile.
