I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement Lyrics

Hey, daddy-o
I don't wanna go down to the basement
There's somethin' down there
I don't wanna go
Hey, Romeo
There's somethin' down there

ok listen to this. MORE REASONS TO LOVE THE RAMONES: 1) Back in their prime before they wrere rockstars, Dee dee would bounce a basketball steadily for 1/2 an hour and Joey would record and listen to it all day. Fun.

2) When Richard Hell (woop) was interviewing (aww) them back in the day, he asked them for the lyrics to this song and it took them 10 minuits for them to agree on the order, despte having played it every night for like the past 6 months.

3) While filming "Rock & Roll High School", the boys were awoken at 2:00AM to be ready and on the set by 10:00AM. There is somehtng abosolutley ridiculous about that. Wait, no there is everything absolutley ridiculous about that.

4) Once again, filming. Those of you who've seen the movie, have you noticed that dee dee has no lines? Why? because he had one line involving something with pizza and it took him 30 takes and he coulnnt get it. (SIGH) so my hero. so they just cut the line out.

THE END. RIP DEE DEE AND JOEY RAMONE

dee dee ramone is so wonderfull...

20 years ago. Yes, Ramones kicked ass, but the people who profess to love them now, hated them back in 76 and 77. Back then I was 18 and I loved them the 1st time I heard them.

--ok, i hate to use this to disagree with the person above me, but i'm gonna. who is persuading? disco blows dogs is just telling ramones fans interesting facts about the band that they might not know. you don''t have to flip out about it. its not like they were saying to like them or else... they said "more reasons to love the ramones" for people who already do love them... so you can just shut up with your Usher nonsence.

I think they don't wanna go down to the basement. After all, something's down there, they don't wanna go.

This song just proves that less is in fact more. (in this case less words) fantastic song about childhood fears of the "known" and how imaginations can run wild

Nice! I love this band. Its one of their stranger songs. Most people dont like basements.

"I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement" was written by Dee Dee and Johnny celebrating their love of horror films. The "I don't wanna" theme continues as the opposite of "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue," inspired by the Stooges. The descending bass line was inspired by "Hang On To Yourself" by David Bowie.

Maybe he doesnt want to go down to the basement because that's where his dad (daddy-o) was molesting him (romeo). I know its sick, but hey.......it's the Ramones, and it is kind of a funny take on that type of thing.

I always figured it was Dee Dee who prostituted himself saying he didn't want to deep throat or "go down to the the BASE."

This is probably THE BEST disco song ever recorded in the 1970s. It obviously inspired the article which led to the film 'Saturday Night Fever', too. For that reason alone The Ramones deserve their place in the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'.

Such mastery. Such suaveness. Such sheer perfection.

The song is about the origin of the band. They used to have band practices in the basement, and their mother (or, more acuratley, Joey's mother) wouldn't ever go down there, as they made too much noise (a very good thing) when they practised.

By the way, this site wasn't designed to perswade other people to like bands. If they like the band, then they'd go and post something on their favorite artist (The Ramones), and would therefore not need to be perswaded to like the artist more.

If you want to get more Ramones fans, go and post it on some part about some bastard like Usher, or something.

See you at the show
