Favourite Friend Lyrics
you're my favourite friend
and i adore you
love you to the end
no one hears a word you say
you're my favourite friend
we rule the world together
with our secret codes
and plans we can't remember
from now on, must be strong
my favourite friend
you're my favourite friend
when i need you
and when i don't as well
of course you miss me being around
you're my favourite friend
but i'm older now
i can't pretend
i can't see you anymore
and i adore you
love you to the end
no one hears a word you say
we rule the world together
with our secret codes
and plans we can't remember
my favourite friend
when i need you
and when i don't as well
of course you miss me being around
but i'm older now
i can't pretend
i can't see you anymore

It's cool how it just melts into 100 Things You Should Have Done in Bed.
"I can't see you anymore" doesn't have to mean that the person can't literally be seen, but possibly that it's not going to work... but then again, the part at the beginning "no one hears a word you say" also promotes the imaginary friend idea. hard to say, but i love the song
About an imaginary friend, maybe?
I love "You're my favourite friend we rule the world together with our secret codes and plans we can't remember" It describes me and one of my good friends But I have to go along with the imaginary friend theory cause he says "but i'm older now i can't pretend i can't see you anymore" And usually when you go older you can't "see" your imaginary friend, cause you think people will make fun of you, but then again it could be about having a bad sort of friend and growing up and seeing that the relationship is destructive.
i think it's about a real friend, a best friend, who he spends all his time with. they're inseparable and they fit so perfectly with each other that they're almost separated from the world with their "secret codes" that nobody can hear. as time goes on, real love substitutes platonic love. he "can't pretend"..."i can't see you anymore"...signifies how he can't pretend to just be friends anymore and the only way he can get over her is to stop seeing her.
Imaginary Friend i think. thats crazy accually cuz i wrote a song about kids with Imaginary freinds awhile before i accually heard this song. but yea thast gotta be it. or maybe Jingy is write. idk. Gary is a god though.
So littlle words say so much ... about an urge to be alone once in a blue moon, imaginary friends are the best but it is not 'bout it
I love the first 4 lines. Sums up how I feels about one of my friends. I would say that yes, it is a pretend friend. Cause we've all been there havent we. We may have had a little companion in our heads that we find hard to give up.
Why does it have to be about a real friend? I think it's probably about his own alter ego, a younger self that does stupid stuff, and now he's done with it. But he knows it's the part of him that has the most fun, which is why there's so much pain and anguish in the song. Addiction? Perhaps.
I take this to mean a physical best friend. As in, the two characters here (the narrator and the friend) are the best of friend throughout their youth, but gradually drift apart in location, etc., but the feeling never changes. And during this separation, the narrator misses his friend, which is how the song ends. At least that's my interpretation of it. Of course, everyone will see it different, but for that meaning, I can relate quite a lot.
