Mahogany Lyrics

i could help myself to something
like a little bit of revelation
you could be the one to help me help myself

maybe if i could see exactly what
was in your way i'd move it for you
don't always need to do it by yourself

i'm not trying to find a way to get in your bed
i'll just sing for you until you fall asleep
then i will go

i never understood how you should feel
you've been left out i'd never do that
it's all in you r imagination dear

In my view, this is probably the best SP acoustic song. It is just purely beautiful, early snow patrol is so underrated.

"i'm not trying to find a way to get in your bed i'll just sing for you until you fall asleep then i will go"

that's so amazingly cute. this song is amazing. I love snow patrol!

it's about him loving someone so much that he just wants to be around her and do for her what she needs, even if she's not letting him at first. it seems like she thinks that he thinks only of himself (i never understood how you should feel you've been left out & you could be the one to help me help myself) and asks too much and he's trying to show her that he's not like that, he wants to share all the responsibilities.

This song makes me cry... its so romantic and gentle you just envy the woman he is singing it to she is so lucky to have someone love them so much that they would do anything for them... i think the song is about a secret crush he has on a girl and is thinking of all the things he can do to show her his feelings and the last verse is saying that even though is seemed as though he does not have any feelings for her he actually does but cannot tell her

Strongly agree w/ snowpatrolfan...older stuff, underrated. This one and "Velocity Girl" are my top two favs on Songs For Polarbears. But yeah, he just keeps saying (not literally) that he loves her and does all these things that others might not to show how much he loves her and how strong his love is. Something like that...

I really like this song. At first I listened to it and used to skip over it whenever it came on, but now... I listen to the lyrics, and I love them.

What if he's trapped in a marriage that's dead. There's nothing there to make him feel good and then, he found her...fell in love - she's his soul mate. He wants to be with her as much as possible...and is...but he knows this will never be enough for her. She doesn't ask much of him and he wants to do for her like a husband does for a wife...because he really wants them to be together like this. He wants her to know it's "True Love" and not just about a physical relationship. True Love and find your Soul Mate....isn't that what we all want?

I think this is the purest song ever. Just my opinion. About two friends who never really saw each other in that light, or one did and one didn't. Either way, they went through a lot and he just wants them both to get through it and she's having trouble with that. He's just explaining his intentions, and how they're good.

I feel like I'm seeing this song completely different from everyone else. It sounds beautiful but I feel it has a creepy, hidden meaning to it.

I think that he's talking about rape. The ending part makes me think that he (or whoever he's pretending to be this song) is pretending he never actually did it. That "It's all in your imagination, dear."
