in an interview john said that its an observation of how two people can get so used to eachother that they tend to expect eachother to know whats going on...said it came from a personal experience and his persepective of things before he was married and after he was married... i love how these words if u just look at them perfectly capture the true meaning of the song...it's amazing when that happens stay goo peace
Yeah... this song is about how she keeps bothering him for the truth but he trys to make it work and she just says that he is wrong so he says" why do we need to turn it on" and "why does it always seen so wrong' because he doesn't understand why they even begin trying to figure it out because she will never listen to the truth and is making it " complicated.
This song kicks more arse than the cats are right now. To me it means you don't feel you can be who you really are until you are alone. you just give others what they want or expect, always on guard until you are alone.
