Q&A
Disconnected Lyrics
You don't know a thing about me
Is there something that you should know?
I can tell you what you want to hear
Let your inhibitions just go
No, you don't know what you will give up
You don't know what you want
It may take you years to find out
You don't know what you need
It's something that may never come to you
Trust is something that comes easy
When you've never been a victim
Lies and promises and words are said
It's your decision to accept them
No, you don't know what you will give up
You don't know what you want
It may take you years to find out
You don't know what you need
It's something that may never come to you
Is there something that you should know?
I can tell you what you want to hear
Let your inhibitions just go
You don't know what you want
It may take you years to find out
You don't know what you need
It's something that may never come to you
When you've never been a victim
Lies and promises and words are said
It's your decision to accept them
You don't know what you want
It may take you years to find out
You don't know what you need
It's something that may never come to you

Ultimately, I think the message of the song is to go for what you want, consequences be damned.
The line "You don't know what you will give up" puzzled me for years.
But I've finally come to realize, in my interpretation at least, that Trever is saying "You don't know what you will give up by NOT taking risks."
"You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need Something that may never come to you"
These lines also puzzled me, but here's what I think. Often in life, people will get a kind of writer's block where they are too afraid to commit to anything, because they are scared that they are making the wrong decision. "Should I really take this job?" "Should I really date this girl/guy?" "Is this the right college major for me?"
Ultimately I think Trever is saying that these questions only get answered AFTER you take the risk and commit yourself. You WON'T know if she's the right girl for you until you spend some time with her. You WON'T know if it's TRULY the right job for you until you commit to it for a while. "It may take you years to find out" if it's really what you want. And it's something you may never know if you choose to stay passive and take no risks.
awesome song I couldnt get the chorus outta my head for like a week after i first heard it. I think its about a girl who is realy popular and doesnt know what to do after its all over, you know?
"poser", what a word only wanna-bes use. funny how that works out huh? anyways, this is in my opinon the best Face to Face song out there. They are one hell of a band. First heard this on the Tank Girl soundtrack, awesome movie...
i first heard this song on a play station demo game that i stole out of a magazine, its for like, mtv snowboard or something....and holy crap.....this song reminds me of snowboarding everytime i hear it.....it just makes me wanna....ride. definitly my favortie by this KICK ASS band!!!
You wanna get popular and let nothing, including friends or anything stand in your way? this song is for you. Face to Face rocks out...theres very few bands with the abilities of these guys.
My Favorite Song By Far By Them! :-)

You don't know a thing about me Is there something that you should know? I can tell you what you want to hear Let your inhibitions just go
[Here, I believe Trever is telling people to drop their guard when interacting with others. You can choose to be defensive and guarded or you can choose to let your inhibitions go and choose to freely enjoy life and your interactions with new people.]
No, you don't know what you will give up You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need It's something that may never come to you
[Here I believe Trever is saying to dive in and commit yourself to something you are passionate about even if you are unsure that it's the absolute best decision you can make. "You don't know what you will give up" by not taking the plunge and going for what you want. A decision with no risk or uncertainty about the outcome is "something that may never come to you."]
Trust is something that comes easy When you've never been a victim Lies and promises and words are said It's your decision to accept them
[Trever understands that it's hard for people to trust if they've had bad experiences in the past. But you ultimately have to let yourself be vulnerable if you want to truly enjoy all life has to offer. The alternative is to be a jaded shell of who you used to be.]
No, you don't know what you will give up You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need It's something that may never come to you
No, but it is in the movie, missblackeyeliner. I forget which scene, but it's there. I think it's something involving a truck, if that helps, but I can't dig out the DVD at the moment...
