(Lyrics by Leigh Nash)
Ah, ah...
You can't see my eyes...
You can't see my eyes...
And they don't see yours
Hear me when I say
I don't mind at all
It's the rain that I hear coming
Not a stranger, not a ghost
The quiet of a storm approaching
That I fear the most
It's the pain that I hear coming
The slightest crystal tear
Drops to the ground in silence
When my love is near
Darling, when did you fall, when was it over?
Darling, when did you fall, when was it over?
It's marching through my door now
The stony cold of lonesome
A bell tolls for my heart
And then my lonesome song begins
Darling, when did you cry I couldn't hear you
Darling when did you cry I couldn't hear you
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
Ah, it's the rain that I hear coming
Not a stranger, not a ghost
The quiet of a storm approaching
That I fear the most
It's the pain that I hear coming
The slightest crystal tear
Drops to the ground in silence
When my love is near
It's marching through my door now
The stony cold of lonesome
A bell tolls for my heart
And now my lonesome song will end
Darling, when did we fall, when was it over?
Darling, when did we fall, when was it over?
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
I fear that it's the price of falling in love
You can't see my eyes...
You can't see my eyes...
And they don't see yours
I don't mind at all
Not a stranger, not a ghost
The quiet of a storm approaching
That I fear the most
It's the pain that I hear coming
The slightest crystal tear
Drops to the ground in silence
When my love is near
Darling, when did you fall, when was it over?
It's marching through my door now
The stony cold of lonesome
A bell tolls for my heart
And then my lonesome song begins
Darling when did you cry I couldn't hear you
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
Not a stranger, not a ghost
The quiet of a storm approaching
That I fear the most
It's the pain that I hear coming
The slightest crystal tear
Drops to the ground in silence
When my love is near
The stony cold of lonesome

And now my lonesome song will end
Darling, when did we fall, when was it over?
I suppose it is the price of falling in love
I fear that it's the price of falling in love

I absolutely adore this song!! It's been one of my favorites for ages, I love the images I have in my mind whenever I listen to it. Waterfalls, rain, light foliage, ponds, elaborate architecture, flowing silk... raindrops.
Her voice is so perfect for this song, too. I love how forlorn and yet determined she sounds.
i first listened to this song shortly after i ended a really long/close relationship. i was immediately drawn to it because i could relate the lyrics to myself despite the actual meaning.
Delerium once again can produce absolutely original and haunting lyrics.
It's the rain that I hear coming Not a stranger, not a ghost The quiet of a storm approaching That I fear the most
Whatever the singer is feeling is already well known to her. It is NOT (1) a feeling she has seen in others but never experienced (not a stranger) or (2) a feeling that has abandoned her only to come back again (not a ghost). I believe that this song is reflective, not so much about mourning or sadness. It is pondering the past and she has a feeling of unease about whatever has happened.
This song is haunting, hypnotic, strange, sensible, original, powerful, enigmatic, sad, relaxing, addictive, mysterious, beautiful, relatable, stunning... the more i listen to it, the more it touches my heart. The transition from minor to Major chord between each verse and the chorus is amazing. And the lyrics ..... the voice......... "Darling, When did we fall ? When was it over ?"
What a masterpiece!
This song is soft and pretty and so true. "I suppose it is the price of falling in love" is a great line.

nah dude, a lot of guys like this song -- especially the Deep Dish Gladiator Remix that's in a lot of progressive house/trance dj mixes. ;)
It's best when you listen to it when it's raining so lightly out that it almost looks like snow and you go outside and you just kinda dance in the rain.
