Of course it's a cover. The Beatles did tons of covers in the early days. This one just stands out as being a rather odd choice for The Beatles.

This oddity is available on Artifacts, as well as the equally odd 1985 Beatles collection Ready Steady Go, featuring some of the more weird recordings they made on the series of the same name.

You're forgetting The Beatles Anthology 1. But yes, it is very much an oddity. I wonder what on earth made them decide to do this song.

if the beatles did do this song, then it is a cover. It was originally done by Johny O'Keefe, an Australian singer.

Wrong! The original recording was by the Isley Brothers in 1959, later cover by, as someone said, Johnny O'Keefe a few months later, then Lulu in 1964, then The Beatles, then Otis Day and the Knights in 1978.
