To Be Free Lyrics

Once in a house on a hill
A boy got angry
He broke into my heart

For a day and a night
I stayed beside him
Until I had no hope

So I came down the hill
Of course I was hurt
But then I started to think

It shouldn't hurt me to be free
It's what I really need
To pull myself together
But if it's so good being free
Would you mind telling me
Why I don't know what to do with myself

There's a bar by the dock
Where I found myself
Drinking with this man
He offered me a cigarette
And I accepted
'Cause it's been a very long time
As it burned 'till the end
I thought of the boy
No one could ever forget

It shouldn't hurt me to be free
It's what I really need
To pull myself together
But if it's so good being free
Would you mind telling me
Why I don't know what to do with myself

To pull myself together
But if it's so good being free
Would you mind telling me
Why I don't know what to do with myself

To pull myself together
But if it's so good being free
Would you mind telling me
Why I don't know what to do with myself

I haven't seen the movie (Crazy Beautiful) but I am horribly addicted to this song. I find this to be about a girl, bound so tightly to a boy that has decided to reject her after a long time spent together. Separated and free, she "doesn't know what to do with" herself. Its too true, perfectly put.

Sometimes you're just so scared to say goodbye even when you know he's not good for you, and will never be. Specially when you've shared so much, and you just feel there's nothing left after him. So that's why I love this song, it gave me the strenght I was looking for.

for some reason i read the lyrics and i think it's about her loosing him, as in, he died, i think maybe comitted suicide?

"For a day and a night I stayed beside him Until I had no hope"

she stayed with him, although she knew how depressed he was and she was going to loose him.

"It shouldn't hurt me to be free It's what I really need To pull myself together But if it's so good being free Would you mind telling me Why I don't know what to do with myself"

like she's trying to live life normally, although its so hard and she feels guilty, she just wants to be free.

"He offered me a cigarette And I accepted 'Cause it's been a very long time As it burned 'till the end I thought of the boy No one could ever forget"

she tries to help relieve the pain of loosing him by smoking and drinking, and it hurts because she's remembering him.

i'm not entirely sure, thats just what i think. i could be way off but YA'LL LOVE IT!
