If It Happens Again Lyrics
If it happens again I`m leaving
I`ll pack my things and go
If it happens again
There`ll be no looking back
I won`t say I told you soM
You did what you were told
And you took the strain
Been left out in the cold
Got yourself to blame
But believe me,
If it happens again I`m leaving
If it stays the same I`m gone
When you`re stabbed in the back
And there`s salt in the wound
The it`s time to move along
(Chorus)
No more spanners in the works,
All the works been done
Had your face rubbed in the dirt
On show for every one
But believe me
If it happens again I`m leaving
If it stays the same I`m gone
When compromise is the song you sing
It`s been going on to long
(Chorus)
I`ll pack my things and go
If it happens again
There`ll be no looking back
I won`t say I told you soM
And you took the strain
Been left out in the cold
Got yourself to blame
But believe me,
If it happens again I`m leaving
If it stays the same I`m gone
When you`re stabbed in the back
And there`s salt in the wound
The it`s time to move along
All the works been done
Had your face rubbed in the dirt
On show for every one
But believe me
If it happens again I`m leaving
If it stays the same I`m gone
When compromise is the song you sing
It`s been going on to long

i love this song. very good synth-drumming in it which leads to a very good beat. the horns supplement the song very well as well and the video to this song is very abstract and quite strange. very good song though.
If It Happens Again is a song against Margaret Thatcher. This song is from 1984. Thatcher was reelected in 1983 in the UK.
UB40 was a band that stand up for the hardworking people and because of Thatcher was the situation in the UK very bad. There were lots of clashes in factories and the industry gets passed up. In 1984, there was a huge inflation in the UK and the national confidence was very very low.
So, when Ali Campbell sings: ''If it happens again, I'm leaving / I'll pack up my things and go'' This shows that they have had enough of this, so you can conclude that this is a song against Thatcher.
